Michelle Keegan may have sweetly announced she is expecting a baby with husband Mark Wright, but her words haven’t always been so kind.
The Brassic star, 37, and former TOWIE man, also 37, have been happily married for nine years. They announced on Sunday evening they are expecting their first child together in a romantic joint Instagram post.
However, just hours after the cute reveal, Michelle’s past words over Mark’s behaviour resurfaced. In 2011, the actress made some blunt comments about her future husband in a column regarding his stop-start relationship with then-TOWIE co-star Lauren Goodger. Michelle admitted at the time she loved the reality TV show, but hit out at Lauren for taking Mark back.

Writing in her Love It! magazine column, titled Tut Tut Mark, Michelle said: ‘I love TOWIE! It’s one of those shows you don’t want to watch, but just can’t help turning on. I don’t know how Lauren can take Mark back so easily, though – it’s so cringe! I wouldn’t’ be able to get back with someone who’d slept with lots of girls I knew, but that’s just me.”
The comments came amid speculation surrounding Mark and Lauren’s relationship. In total, they were together for 10 years before splitting for good. Lauren has since labelled Mark the love of her life in another interview.
Following their split, Mark and Michelle met 18 months later on a group holiday to Dubai. They seemed to have an instant connection and began dating when they returned to the UK. The duo tied the knot in May 2015.
On Sunday, their joint Instagram post showed Mark walking towards Michelle on the beach while she cradled her baby bump. They wrote on the upload: “2025 is going to be a special one for us…” alongside a baby face emoji and a white heart emoji.
Mark and Lauren almost had an awkward encounter a week ago a week before as the pair almost came face to face while he was out celebrating a family member’s birthday. The reality star was out with his wife and family to celebrate Mark Wright Sr turning 68 at Sheesh in Essex, with James Argent providing the evening’s entertainment.
However, it was almost awkward when it was revealed Lauren was in the same venue. Mark’s sister Jess Wright was seen making her way into the popular Essex venue, passing Lauren’s parked Range Rover on her way in. As they tried to stop any needless run-ins, Mark and Michelle made a discreet entrance through a fire exit in order to swerve Lauren.
