Tyson Fury makes ‘retirement decision’ just one day after defeat to Oleksandr Usyk
The ‘Gypsy King’ has made his decision.
Tyson Fury has revealed if he will retire after suffering his second professional defeat against Oleksandr Usyk in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on Saturday evening.
Fury, 36, and Usyk, 37, went the full 12 rounds scheduled at the Kingdom Arena as the Manchester-born heavyweight aimed to avenge his previous defeat against the Ukrainian.
Despite Fury’s respectable showing, Usyk was awarded a unanimous decision points victory, allowing him to retain his WBO, WBA, and WBC world heavyweight titles.

When the unified champion was being interviewed in the ring shortly after hearing the result, he was interrupted by IBF champion Daniel Dubois, who made his intentions of wanting to rematch Usyk clear, having previously sustained a knockout defeat against him back in August 2023.
But the question on most fan’s lips was, ‘Will Tyson Fury retire?’

Well, according to The Sun, his career has not reached its climax just yet.
A source told the outlet that Fury told his friends that “it’s not over” upon his return to the UK yesterday.
While Fury will no doubt want another shot at Usyk, given the fact he has lost twice to the 37-year-old, it is unclear if a third fight will materialise or even warrant the interest of boxing fans.
However, Fury may be keen to settle his long-running feud with fellow British heavyweight Anthony Joshua.
A bout between the pair arguably should’ve happened several years ago when Fury held the WBC belt and Joshua the WBO, WBA, IBF and IBO titles before he also sustained two defeats at the hands of Usyk.
Speaking after Saturday’s fight, Fury’s promoter Frank Warren explained whether a ‘Battle of Britain’ style fight could happen.
“It’s what people will want to watch,” said Warren.
“The Fury/Joshua fight is a great fight, and if it happens, it will be a mega fight, it will be brilliant.
“It’s what people will want to watch.
“But it will only happen if Tyson wants to do it and that’s a big if. And if he doesn’t want to do it, then so be it.”
There will no doubt be a demand from the British public to see the fight, but whether this is Fury’s next move remains to be seen.
Joshua, 35, last fought in September 2024 and suffered a devastating knockout defeat against fellow Brit Dubois.
