Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk’s minimum boxing suspensions confirmed after Gypsy King beaten in heavyweight rematch

TYSON FURY and Oleksandr Usyk will both have to serve customary suspensions following last night’s fight.
Usyk, 37, outpointed the Gypsy King once again to retain his heavyweight championship belts.

After the pair fought for 12 rounds, the Ukrainian won 116-112 on all three judges’ scorecards.
Following the bout, both fighters will be required to sit out for 24 days.
That’s because boxing chiefs dictate that fighters must miss a minimum of three days per round fought.
If either man had lost via technical knockout (TKO) they would have been required to sit for a minimum of 30 days.
A TKO occurs when the referee puts a stop to the fight, compared to a knockout, which is when a fighter cannot get up before the end of the count.
Had either man been knocked out, they would have been ruled out for a minimum of 60 days.
He said: “What’s next for me? I’m going home and having some time off.”

Pressed if the public will see him fight again, Fury cryptically added: “You might do, you might not do. Who knows?
“We’ll talk about that next year.”

He also insisted that he felt he’d beaten Usyk.
The Gypsy King said: “I thought I won that fight. I thought I won both fights but I’m going home with two losses on my record. There’s not much I can do about it. I can just fight my heart out.
“I will believe til the day I die that I won that fight. I was aggressive, on the front foot all night, landing to the body and head.
“Frank Warren had me three or four rounds up. A lot of people had me at least two rounds up. But I’m not going to cry over spilled milk.
“I can’t change the decision. When you don’t get the KO this is what happens: you can’t guarantee a win.”
Should he continue, Fury has been tipped to finally fight Anthony Joshua.
Usyk, meanwhile, could defend his titles against the winner of Daniel Dubois and Joseph Parker.
