EastEnders viewers are fearing the latest episode of the BBC soap backs rumours Linda Carter will die at Christmas.

Not only that, but fans now believe they know who is ‘to blame’ for her death, and what leads to the shocking end for the character. EastEnders has yet to confirm reports of a Christmas death, or whose funeral was filmed by cast recently.

All clues point to it being Linda who dies though, amid new claims a leaked script gave away the death of a major character. While it’s not confirmed if this actually happened, it’s also not known if the funeral is real.

Fans have been speculating it’s a dream sequences or a future scenario, if alcoholic Linda doesn’t get the help she needs. Linda has battled alcoholism onscreen for the past few years now, and she relapsed in late 2023 amid Dean Wicks’ return and Keanu Taylor’s murder.

Linda accidentally killed Keanu on Christmas Day last year to protect her pal Sharon Watts, as Keanu attacked her. The women and the rest of The Six covered up the crime and Nish Panesar has since taken the fall.

But Bernadette Taylor wants revenge for her brother, with her knowing the truth. With Linda’s drinking getting out of control across the year, recent weeks have seen her getting help.

Her mother Elaine Peacock was happy to see her daughter doing well this week, as she had remained sober and was trying to get her life back on track. Discussing meetings too to help her stay sober, it seemed Linda had turned a corner as she was feeling okay for the first time in months.

But Bernadette stopped all that and deliberately tempted Linda with booze, when she found out about Nish. Confronting Linda, she made jibes that Linda would “drink herself to death anyway”, taunting her before handing her a bottle of alcohol.

Clearly trying to get her to drink, just like she did weeks ago, Bernie left fans sickened with her deliberate plan to make Linda relapse. A heartbroken Linda ended up relapsing and was shown breaking her sobriety, also cancelling her recovery appointment.

Now, fans believe Bernadette will spark whatever leads to Linda’s apparent death. They fear Bernie has pushed Linda too far, and may continue to taunt Linda amid her turmoil.

Fans are now blaming Bernie already for the possible looming demise of Linda, believing that her drinking will sadly lead to her tragic death. One fan posted on X: “IF LINDA DIES BERNIE WILL BE THE REASON FOR HER DEATH.”

Another said: “Are we really forcing Linda to drink to death and we keep Bernie?” as a third said: “Could this lead to Linda potentially being the one to die at Christmas?”

A further comment read: “I see Linda’s back drinking. Well done Bernie! You may have started the wheels to Linda dying now!” Another asked: “Sorry, but anyone else fail to see how Linda’s death would help Bernie get justice?”
