Tony Bellew Is Convinced There Is ‘Only One Man’ Who Can Beat Oleksandr Usyk

Oleksandr Usyk, the reigning heavyweight champion, continues to garner admiration and respect in the boxing world following his historic win over Tyson Fury in May. The 37-year-old Ukrainian fighter achieved a significant milestone by becoming the first undisputed heavyweight champion since Lennox Lewis nearly 25 years ago. Their thrilling bout showcased Usyk’s skill and determination, with a pivotal 10-8 round in the ninth sealing his victory.

The eagerly anticipated rematch between Usyk and Fury is scheduled for December 21 in Saudi Arabia, following Fury’s activation of the rematch clause. As fans and analysts look forward to the second encounter, Tony Bellew, who previously faced Usyk, shared his insights on the upcoming fight.

Speaking on Eddie Hearn’s Club Bellew podcast, Bellew expressed some concerns regarding Usyk’s recent comments about his training camp. Despite these concerns, Bellew remains confident that Usyk’s only potential downfall could be himself. He remarked:

“Was it not alarm bells ringing when he said how hard camp was and they said who beats Oleksandr Usyk, and it’s mad cause he’s repeating the words I’m saying, but he said the only person who beats him is him.”

Bellew, who has great respect for Usyk, anticipates that the rematch will likely see Usyk repeating his earlier success rather than Fury exacting revenge. He praised Usyk’s achievements and potential:

“Based on the last performance, no, you can’t make a call for that. But has he got a chance? 100%. Oleksandr Usyk. What a guy, what a man. The greatest cruiserweight, and let me tell you he’ll go down as one of the greatest heavyweights as well.”

As Usyk and Fury prepare for their rematch, all eyes will be on their December 21 showdown to see if Fury can adapt and overcome the formidable Usyk. With Bellew’s endorsement and the high stakes of the bout, the fight is set to be a pivotal moment in heavyweight boxing history.
