Maura Higgins hit back at Barry McGuigan after he revealed she had been drinking all night on her first night of freedom following their eviction from the I’m a Celebrity jungle

Maura Higgins snapped at her campmate Barry McGuigan after he revealed what she did since leaving the I’m a Celebrity jungle.

The former Love Island star, 34, and the 63-year-old former professional boxer were evicted earlier this week – with Maura vowing she would be enjoying some red wine after leaving the jungle. After they were eliminated, Maura and Barry appeared on the spin-off programme, Unwrapped, to open up on their jungle antics.

Barry quickly joked about Maura ‘s behaviour after leaving the camp as he said she spent her first night of freedom drinking, barely getting any sleep. The Irish promoter said: “It’s fascinating being on this side, we just stuffed our faces.

“I had a good sleep, not sure you had a good sleep Maura. She’s been drinking long into the night.” And Maura quickly hit back: “Barry don’t tell everyone!” But Barry continued: “Ohh it’s amazing, you wouldn’t believe it when you look at her.”

As the pair chatted with host Joel Dommett, Maura revealed she only slept for an hour and a half as she celebrated getting out of the jungle. She said: “I only slept for an hour an a half. I went crazy with the food, I had a bottle of wine last night, yeah I definitely went overboard.”

Barry asked: “One bottle of wine?” Maura then said: “Yes only one Barry! And my stomach is a bit dodgy today, I’m not going to lie.” Many viewers were surprised when Maura and Barry were evicted as the pair were favourites to make the final.

But in a scene that aired on Friday following her exit on Thursday, Maura confessed she didn’t want to leave, despite revealing that she was “really happy” after leaving the jungle. In the scene, Maura shared she “wasn’t ready” to go but said she felt it was her last day there before it was announced.

She said: “I don’t want to go! I’m not ready to leave! But if it’s my time, it’s my time.” And her time it was as just moments later, Ant and Dec revealed her camp fate and Maura was out – with her admitting: “I knew it, I had that feeling.”

Her campmates were left reeling by her unexpected departure, withColeen Rooneyconfessing Maura and Barry would be missed. She said of their departures: “I’m gutted. Two big personalities, they will be truly missed.”
