ITV Loose Women audience gasp as star admits to ‘dirty’ habit

The Loose Women audience were left gasping in shock when panellist Katie Piper revealed she’s never cleaned her fridge despite having had it in her home for five years

The Loose Women live audience were left stunned by one panellist’s dirty habit confession. During Tuesday’s (24 September) episode of the hit ITV daytime show, Katie Piper, Coleen Nolan and Janet Street Porter joined presenter Ruth Langsford on the panel.

Discussions varied from cosmetic surgery to the latest celebrity news during the episode, but it was interesting fact shared by Ruth, 64, that caught people’s attention. The group were chatting about cleaning out their fridge at home, when Ruth asked: “Do you know how often you’re meant to clean your fridge?” to which Katie quickly responded: “I’ve never cleaned my fridge, ever.”

Loud gasps could be heard in the studio, with Katie’s fellow panellists clearly taken aback by her confession. Attempting to defend herself, Katie added: “Why would I clean my fridge? It’s not dirty!”

Ruth then informed her: “You’re meant to clean it every month, Katie Piper.” However, Katie didn’t back down and insisted: “No, I’ve had my fridge for five years, I’ve never cleaned it once.” As the audience continued to gasp and share their shock, Ruth told them: “I’m just going to let you digest that,” before cutting to an ad break.

Katie’s surprising habit comes after her latest TV project was revealed. The star will meet female inmates at New Orleans Parish Prison as part of a new documentary series.

Locked Up In Louisiana will see TV host Katie delve into inmates’ cases and try to uncover what drove these women to commit the serious and shocking crimes they have been accused of. Katie said of the show, which will air in 2025: “Off camera I am committed to working with women in prisons to understand motivation and help rehabilitation, and I’m really proud to be making this series with Flicker and U&W – they are an all-female team that has empathy and storytelling at the heart of what they do.”

She added: “We travelled to America and in one prison I try to understand what has led the women we meet to this point, what circumstances have they been living in, what trauma they experienced and how their lives have been affected. For some this isn’t simple, and we consider how a wide range of factors effect different people in different ways. I hope that it gives viewers an insight into something that isn’t perhaps as straightforward as you would initially think and gives us all some pause for thought.”
