Ruth Langsford made a heartbreaking admission about ageing as her ex Eamonn Holmes moved on with a younger woman, Katie Alexander.

The Loose Women panellist, 64, and former ITV presenter Eamonn, also 64, shocked fans when they announced their split earlier this year. While Ruth kept it lowkey and stepped back from her hosting duties for several weeks, Eamonn returned to TV and seemingly moved on with blonde divorcee Katie, 42.

Over the weekend, GB News host Eamonn and his new girlfriend were pictured heading on a luxury cruise together as they took their sizzling romance to the next level. The new couple were seen boarding the ship at Barcelona ready to embark on a trip together while Ruth continued her work at ITV. The latest dig came after Ruth recently discussed her worries about ageing with her co-stars Coleen Nolan, Brenda Edwards and Kelly Holmes.

The star said she struggles ‘on this tightrope of trying hard to be the woman who doesn’t care about ageing’ but can’t help but feel down about her changing body. She said: “When I hit 60, it seems to have happened very quickly. You know me, I don’t tend to worry much about age. But at 60 until now, I’m 64, I feel that everything has drooped and sagged and I have a funny neck.

“I can see it. When you take a selfie or something, whereas before I didn’t really notice. Now I do and I go, ‘Ugh, look at that’.” She added: “We promote very much on here, body positivity, confidence – age is just a number. I teeter on this tightrope of trying hard to be that woman, ‘Age is just a number, count your blessing in life, all my friends look like this’.

“Then I have those moments where I could fall off the tightrope and go, ‘Look at my neck’, It’s awful,'” she added.

When Ruth returned to Loose Women on Monday, fans couldn’t help but notice Ruth was looking a far cry from her usual self. Appearing hours after pictures of Eamonn and his two decades younger partner holidaying together, fans thought Ruth looked down cast and as if she had been crying.

Many rushed to share their concerns for her. One tweeted: “Cannot be easy for Ruth when Eamonn features in most newspapers.”

Another said: “You can tell that Ruth has been hurting from the pictures of Eamonn with her younger blondie, Ruth looks like she has been crying as her eyes looks puffed up,” before adding: “I can’t wait to see Ruth’s new boyfriend #loosewomen.”

However others were keen to show her message of support. One posted: “How Gorgeous did @RuthieeL look on the trailer on this morning? Adorable,” someone else shared: “#Loosewomen How are you doing today Ruth,” alongside a blowing kiss gif.

In pictures from the weekend, Eamonn was seen on a mobility scooter while his new girlfriend Katie walked beside him as they embarked on a cruise.

Monday’s Loose Women took an awkward turn when guest Shayne Ward brought up cruising holidays in front of Ruth. The Strictly 2024 contestant and former X Factor was on the show to promote his new Channel 5 show The Good Ship Murder – which is set on a cruise ship.

Shayne asked the studio audience: “Who loves being on a cruise?” As Ruth looked on before wrapping up the interview.
