Convicted paedophile Rolf Harris shared a final request to his daughter Bindi before his death aged 93 last year.
The disgraced TV personality spent his final days living as a hermit in darkness – miles away from his old lifestyle as an entertainer on TV. He resided in his lavish estate with his Welsh wife Alwen – who recently died aged 93 from a stroke.
His career spanned 60 years with him fronting Rolf’s Cartoon Club and Animal Hospital, along with a slew of other popular children’s TV shows. His entire career quickly came crashing down in 2013 when he was arrested and charged with historic allegations of sexual offences as part of Operation Yewtree.
He was sentenced to five years and nine months in prison for 12 indecent assaults on four teenage girls between 1968 and 1986, although one of those was later overturned. Harris was released from prison in 2017 and it was reported that he spent most of his days indoors while struggling with severe illness.
The paedophile died in May last year, with his death certificate saying neck cancer and ‘frailty of old age’ were the reasons for his death.

He was surrounded by family when he died but he made sure to ask his daughter, 58, for one last request before he passed away. He asked his daughter to look after her mother while speaking with a feeding tube in his house in Berkshire. He said: “I always believed we would go on longer together but, if I go first, promise you’ll take good care of your mum.”
At the time, it was reported that his wife Alwen was receiving 24-hour nursing care and was battling Alzheimer’s Disease. His wife had been pictured in a wheelchair in recent years and, as confirmed by Harris’ statement in 2017, was in very poor health.
She is said to have lived in the family home with the carers looking after her before her death. Alwen and Harris met each other in the early 1950s while they were both attending art school in Kennington.
They tied the knot at St Saviour’s Church in Paddington in 1958. When he was charged, Judge Mr Justice Sweeney told how he had taken advantage of his celebrity status and shown “no remorse”. While he was still in prison in 2016, he was charged in relation to seven unconnected historic allegations of indecent assault but was cleared on three counts.

The jury was discharged before they reached a verdict on the remaining four. Harris was retried for three offences and one new charge but was acquitted when the jury couldn’t reach a verdict. He was later retried for three offences and one new charge but was acquitted after the jury could not reach a verdict. “I feel no sense of victory, only relief,” Harris said in a statement at the time.
He spent nearly three years at HMP Stafford before being released in May 2017. He spent the rest of his days living at his multi-million-pound estate in Berkshire.
