“Everybody has a plan until they get punch in the mouth,” this iconic quote from the legendary Mike Tyson perfectly captures his mindset as he gears up to face Jake Paul. At the recent presser, Tyson kept his cool, showing a stoic demeanor that suggests he’s done with words and ready to let his fists do the talking. Jake Paul, however, brought his signature playful energy, pulling off a bold antic that poked fun at Tyson’s infamous ear-biting incident.

Press conferences have evolved into arenas where fighters bring their A-game to hype up the fight, and Paul never misses an opportunity to steal the spotlight. At Wednesday’s presser, Paul sported a diamond-encrusted ear cover—a direct jab at Mike Tyson’s infamous moment from 1997, when he bit off a piece of Evander Holyfield’s ear during their rematch.

It’s classic Paul, using humor and showmanship to keep all eyes on him while taking playful shots at his opponent’s past. Flaunting his earpiece he said, “I’m not getting my s- -t bitten off Friday night. I got my diamond-spiked ear covers.”

Undoubtedly, Paul turned heads at the presser by wearing a reported $100,000 diamond-studded ear cover designed by Miami jeweler Vobara. There’s no doubt that this move is something many wouldn’t have dared to try during Tyson’s prime. After the stunt, Tyson remains completely unreactive to any of Paul’s antics. Now all eyes are on the fight to see if all the antics turn worthy.

What Are The Rules In Mike Tyson vs. Jake Paul?

Tyson vs. Paul isn’t your typical matchup, as it features two of the most unexpected rivals facing off. The exhibition bout will span eight rounds, each lasting two minutes, a departure from the usual 10–12 rounds of three minutes. Another major change is that both fighters will wear 14-ounce gloves, which are heavier than the usual 10-ounce gloves. This likely reduces the force of the punches, considering Tyson’s age and recent health issues.

The Texas Department of Licensing and Regulations (TDLR) officially sanctioned the fight, so it will count toward both boxers’ official records. Does the baddest man on the planet finally humble Paul? Find out on November 15. There’s no doubt this could be the biggest live sports event of the year.
