Tyson Fury sends Oleksandr Usyk chilling one-word message after weigh-in ahead of rematch

The ‘Gypsy King’ issued a simple message.

Tyson Fury sent a chilling message to Oleksandr Usyk as he left Friday’s weigh-in.

Fury, 36 and Usyk, 37, will go toe-to-toe for the second time at the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on Saturday evening.

In May, the Ukrainian came away with a majority decision victory, having came on strong in the second half of the bout.

In round nine, referee Mark Nelson gave the ‘Gypsy King’ a standing count as he was kept up by the ropes after being caught with a barrage of punches from Usyk.

The Manchester-born heavyweight will look to avenge the defeat on Saturday, but fight week has already been entertaining.

On Thursday, the pair faced off for over 11 minutes.

But on Friday, the weigh-in at the Wonder Garden was relatively low-key in comparison.

Fury weighed in at a career heaviest 20st 1lb (281lb), while Usyk also came in at his highest professional weight, 16st 2lb (226lb).

But fans were quick to point out how the former WBC champion was wearing several layers of clothing, which may have influenced the scales’ reading.

Fury did not stick around to speak to the gathered media and cut a focused figure.

However, he did issue a chilling message to his opponent simply saying “WAR” as he departed, according to TNT Sports.

“Yeah he [Tyson Fury’s] heavier but I think the other guy is as well,” said promotor Frank Warren.

“You can analyse it anyway you like but tomorrow night you’re going to find out who is the best. You know both of them will come to fight. We are going to see something extra, extra special.”

Usyk seemed relaxed as he answered questions for a brief period, explaining how he felt “nothing” ahead of the fight.

When pressed on why he seemed so calm, he replied: “Because my angel helps me, my god Jesus helps me, my family and my team, my wife, more help me.”
