This penchant for attitude could also be prompted by a desire to appeal to a younger teenage audience or even to impress a specific new man.

Her cocked thumb in the raised hand suggests she’s enjoying this new, rebellious look and she does have an A-list role model.

Jennifer Lopez is another star who is always camera-ready and camera-friendly but she was seen flipping the finger very dramatically a few months ago.

This might have announced a form of permission from the top to let some real frustrations and feelings leak out now and again.

It seems to sit well with the trend of bare faces and a more honest approach.
