GAVIN and Stacey’s Gwen West FINALLY found love as the show drew to a close one final time.

The hit BBC sitcom aired its last ever episode tonight and confirmed that two of the most unlikely characters had been in a secret romance.

Gwen and her mystery man had not told a single soul about their surprise rendezvous and it all came tumbling out in dramatic fashion.

Throughout the episode, it had seemed as though Gwen was keeping something from her loved ones as she was seen sneaking off to various different places and keeping coy about all of her whereabouts.

The unlucky-in-love character had finally found a partner to call her own but no one could have expected just who it was.

As Jason, Stacey and Nessa headed around to Gwen’s for a catch-up, they were left perplexed when she came rushing down the stairs with her hair all messy after they were forced to call out for her.

In her trademark style, she offered to cook up an omelette for the gang before movement could be heard upstairs.

Convinced her mum was keeping secrets from her, Stacey demanded to head upstairs to see what, or who, was up there.

It forced Gwen to come clean as she delivered up a shock revelation.

Addressing the group, she said: “I didn’t want to tell you this way, but it seems I have no choice.

“The thing is, I’m in a relationship.

“I’ve got a boyfriend.”

Stacey and Jason looked on in shock before expressing their delight that she had finally found The One.

However, there was another twist in the tale.

As Gwen beckoned her hidden fella to make his way down the stairs, it was revealed that he was none other than Dave Coaches.

Stacey exclaimed in horror: “Dave Coaches?!”

The moment also saw Dave and his ex-lover Nessa come face-to-face as they shared a cordial greeting.

Making a rather cheeky quip about why they didn’t reveal their relationship any sooner, Gwen said: “I know it’s a shock and I’m sorry we didn’t tell you, but we wanted to be absolutely sure because we didn’t know if it was just… sexual.”

The laughs kept on coming in as Nessa remarked to Dave: “I know more than anyone what kind of bag you’re packing and it’s exceptional. I know.”

But there was one member of the family that did not take it well – Bryn.

He stormed into the house as he screamed at Gwen and Dave forcing her to admit they had been keeping quiet about their newfound romance for six months.

Bryn ranted at Dave: “From digging your festering claws once more into the flesh of this family? I know what you’re thinking, Brin, but it’s not like that.

“Here he comes, winding his way in like a rat, feasting on scraps under my brother’s roof.”

But in a touching moment, Dave declared his love for Gwen with the rest of the West clan looking on in support.

The bus driver said: “I’m telling you, Bryn, it’s not like that.

“I love Gwen, I do. More than you’ll ever know.”

The relationship caused tension between Bryn and the rest of the family but he was soon forced to thaw any frosty atmosphere with Gwen’s new lover after he managed to save the day to transport Smithy and the whole gang to Southampton Docks in order for him to finally confess his undying love to her.
