Rebekah Vardy may not be in Australia for the latest series of I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!, but she’s certainly not being forgotten by hosts Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly. The Geordie pair kicked off the second episode on Monday night (18 November) with a playful dig at the mum-of-five, who was a contestant on the show back in 2017.

Things escalated when Coleen Rooney began discussing the infamous Wagatha Christie trial with her fellow campmates. Back in October 2019, Coleen accused Rebekah of leaking stories about her to the press in a tweet that ended with “It’s…. Rebekah Vardy”.

This led to Coleen earning the nickname Wagatha Christie and a multi-million-pound court case, which she won. However, Rebekah had the last laugh when she trademarked the term Wagatha Christie, meaning she could earn money every time it’s mentioned, reports the Mirror.

After Coleen discussed the impact the trial had on her health with her fellow campmates, Ant and Dec couldn’t resist making a comment about the feud. Dec said to Ant: “She owns the phrase. She trademarked that famous phrase.”

“Oh you mean Waga…” Ant replied, before Dec quickly interrupted him. “Sssssh. We can’t say it. Don’t say it.” Catching on, Ant warned viewers: “If we say those two words we get sued and having to put a load of money into…. Rebekah Vardy’s account.”

The campfire chat kicked off when Dean mentioned the infamous Wagatha Christie saga, leading journalist Jane Moore to tell Coleen: “That was epic though what you did! ” GK Barry then asked if Coleen had been scared to post the original message, to which she replied: “No, because I just didn’t think it would have the impact it did, because I was just that sick and tired of it, it was draining.”

The 38 year old continued: “That was my worst nightmare to go to court. I felt like it was like putting on a show for the whole world.” She shared with the group: “What got me, over the whole thing, was it became a bit of a joke and that’s really disappointing, it wasn’t a joke for me. No one knew the full story.”

This comes after Coleen expressed her wish to move past it as she didn’t want to be known as Wagatha Christie. Speaking to the Mirror, she said: “I think I’d rather just be known as Coleen from Liverpool. Not from any other type of place. It’s just me, as I always have been, so hopefully people just think she’s that scouser that she’s always been.”

Before entering the jungle, the wife of footballer Wayne Rooney, expressed how she might tackle conversations about the Wagatha Christie saga in the jungle. She said: “That’s a place that I’ve been, I’ve dealt with it. I did the documentary to draw a line under it and it depends on what conversation it actually is at the time. In my life now, I’m just moving forward and not looking back. That’s something I’ve done my whole life, dealt with things and moved forward at the time and got on.”

She continued, highlighting her focus: “There are more important things to think about with the family and kids. So it depends on the conversation at the time and what’s said. But talking to the press and stuff, I did the documentary to explain what happened, my view on it and just get on with my life really.”
