A new version of I’m A Celebrity: Extra Camp is returning to screens.

The ITV2 spinoff of I’m  A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! has not acted as a companion series to its main show since 2020.

It was last hosted by Adam Thomas, Emily Atack and Joel Dommett and previously featured former winners like Stacey Solomon, Scarlett Moffatt and Vicky Pattison in presenting roles.

Joel confirmed in 2020 that it would not be back on screen because it had become so ‘expensive’ to film, but it has now been reported that a new version is in the works.

A show spokeswoman told The Sun: ‘Since Extra Camp came off air four years ago the conversation and engagement around I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! continues to grow across all social media platforms.’

The show’s official teased that the new sister show will be the ‘ultimate’ place to find out about all the gossip in the camp

‘This new ITV2 companion show will bring together all those conversations in one place, to give viewers the ultimate IAC destination for all of their news, gossip and behind the scenes fun around TV’s biggest entertainment show.’

Vick Hope also hosted a version of it during 2020 called the Daily Drop when the show was broadcast from Wales amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

A source noted that there is a ‘huge buzz’ about the return of the jungle survival show this year and claimed that it will be given a new title to mark the onset of a new era.

Prior to being named Extra Camp, the show was known as I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here NOW! before rebranding  in 2016.

Former Love Island presenter Laura Whitmore and EastEnders actor Joe Swash had presented that format in its latter years, following on from the likes of husband-and-wife-duo Emma and Matt Willis.

In terms of the lineup for this year’s camp, TikTok star GK Barry is said to be in to be in ‘advanced talks’ with ITV bosses for a slot, whilst boxer Tommy Fury could also be heading Down Under amid his breakup with Molly Mae Hague.

Coronation Street actor Alan Halsall, known to millions as Tyrone Dobbs, was also thought to have signed up but had to pull out at the last minute.
