Dec Donnelly couldn’t help himself on I’m A Celebrity on Friday night, as he took aim at campmate Dean McCullough.
Just hours after sharing his frustration at the radio star, with co-host Ant McPartlin left “annoyed” over his trial antics, the next trial showed Dec making a jokey jibe. Viewers tuning on Thursday night had said Ant was clearly “seething” as Dean quit another challenge.
Ant addressed his outrage admitting he “wasn’t happy” with how he came across, calling himself “unprofessional”. But with the star agreeing to take a backseat on the Dean hate with a “kinder” approach, it was Dec who instead decided to call him out.
It was all in jest though, and a reference to Dean’s rule-breaking in camp. Dean was caught out for having contraband this week, smuggling teabags into the camp. This was not allowed and he gave himself away on camera, leading producers to investigate.
The camp ended up being punished for it and all contraband had to be handed in. On Friday Dean took on the latest mission with McFly star Danny Jones, and they certainly did better than in recent days.
In the challenge the pair had to rummage around looking for stars, being greeted by all sorts on the way round. From fish guts, to pigeons and some other special guests, the boys faced it all and had to get the hidden stars in an allocated amount of time.
But when the pair missed a star that was hidden inside a kettle, Dec couldn’t help make a jibe after spotting the irony. Of all the things not to look in, Dec joked he believed after the teabag situation that Dean would surely have checked there first.
Mocking the incident, Ant said: “We know you like a cup of tea,” to which Danny claimed to have nothing to do with. Dec then told Dean: “In honour of your sneaky little teabags. We thought you’d have gone straight for the kettle, we know you love a cup of tea!”
He added: “My annoyance came across on screen and it was unprofessional, and I am not happy about it. I will be kind to him today.” Dean is facing the next trial with Danny Jones, so he and Ant will come face-to-face once more.
Dec also shared his hopes for the next trial admitting it was nice to see someone else down there. He said: “Danny is determined, he’s enthusiastic, he really wants to [do well], there’s no hiding for Dean now, he has to step up.”
