Lorraine said “what fun we had!” as she shared a clip of the scripted programme.
During Friday night’s episode, Lorraine read from the autocue: “In other news, Rachel Reeves has been accused of lying on her CV.
“But we’ve all done that, haven’t we, for work purposes?
“For years I’ve claimed to be friends with Richard Madeley.”
She managed to keep a straight face after telling the gag in front of amused panellists, comedian Maisie Adam and journalist Matt Chorley, and team captains Paul Merton and Ian Hislop.
Lorraine’s fans praised her online, writing: “Absolutely amazing lovely well done loved it and adore you even more now.”
Another added: “Wonderful & funny as the chair, best episode so far of the series.”
However, some weren’t impressed by the latest episode.
“I used to enjoy this show but it’s predictably smug responses to everything are neither surprising nor entertaining,” one said.
“The format is tired and needs a reboot.”
Someone else added: “They really are not as amusing as they think they are, Dreadfully outdated dire TV.
“What has happened to the BBC they used to make funny stuff.”
Another added: “I remember when you were edgy and funny, this is just pathetic.”
