KOURTNEY Kardashian and Travis Barker may be following in the Royal Family’s lead as they parent their newborn son.

Kourtney and Travis welcomed their first son, Rocky, in November but didn’t release the first photos of him for weeks.

She has three children with her ex Scott Disick: Mason, Penelope, and Reign.

Travis has two children with his ex-wife Shanna Moakler, and helped her raise her daughter from a relationship with boxer Oscar De La Hoya.

Kourtney has not previously shied away from flaunting photos of her kids on social media.

They often appear in her stories and have been photographed out and about with their famous relatives.

Kourtney did take a different approach with Reign, though, shielding him from the public eye when he was first born.

Reign was introduced to fans in April 2015, four months after his birth.

With their newborn, Kourtney has again taken a more private approach.

She and Travis didn’t release the first images of Rocky until almost two months after his birth.

PR expert Eric Schiffer, chairman of the Los Angeles-based firm Reputation Management Consultants, said that Kourtney and Travis might be taking a page out of another famous family’s book.

“They’re perhaps following the lead of the Royal Family, who are very protective of their newborns,” Schiffer said.

“[The Royals] want to ensure the narrative is positive and to enjoy themselves, to enjoy their baby without having to manage the public’s comments or experience sensitivities that they may not want to see.”

The Royals typically control the photographs of their children that are released to the public.

Guidance from The Royal Family’s website states: “Images of Members of the Royal Family under the age of 18 should not be used for commercial purposes.”

But Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have taken it a step further to protect their children as they stepped away from their royal duties.

Only a handful of official portraits have been released of their daughter, Lilibet.

So in keeping photos of Rocky private – and being discerning with what they choose to share – Kourtney and Travis are maintaining more control over the narrative surrounding their son.

“In some ways, they’ve [the Kardashians] created a royalty within America through boldness and risk and realness, and a degree of strategy that their mom [Kris] deserves a tremendous amount of credit for.”

Kris Jenner, Kourtney’s mother, has very famously managed the careers of her Kardashian children, guiding them into successful business ventures and making them household names.

‘MIXED YEAR’

As far as Kourtney and Travis’ relationship goes, Schiffer said they appear to be solid.

The duo recently celebrated two years together in October.

They’ve been married since May 15, 2022.

In 2023, the couple faced highs and scary lows.

Kourtney publicly announced her pregnancy in June at one of Travis’ Blink-182 concerts.

But just months later, she had urgent fetal surgery on her unborn baby.

Travis then announced that, given Kourtney’s health scare, he would be postponing shows.

Still, the couple appear to be in a good place weeks after welcoming Rocky.

“They had a mixed year of ups and painful difficulties but they seem like a duo that connects on a deeper level and they have a lot of commonalities,” Schiffer said.

“I think they’ve been able to find joy in perhaps a way they couldn’t do on their own, which is wonderful.”
