Kim Kardashian was instrumental in getting New Jersey woman Dawn Jackson out of prison after she spent 25 years for fatally stabbing a man who she alleged was sexually abusing her.
The reality star used her platform to advocate for Dawn’s release, which she’s been doing since 2018 after Dawn sent Kim letters about her case. Kim played a major role in New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy choosing to commute Dawn’s sentence. Dawn’s letters inspired the Skims founder to get involved with her case. Kim’s support has gotten Governor Phil to commute Dawn’s 30-year sentence, which will free her 5 years early.
Dawn isn’t the only one who the TV personality has worked to have released from jail amid her fight for prison reform. Over the last few years, Kim has helped get a few people released from prison, including Alice Marie Johnson.

Insiders revealed to TMZ that Kim will continue to advocate for inmates in New Jersey and elsewhere. Although Kim hasn’t talked to Dawn yet, sources divulged to the news outlet that the two will connect in the next few weeks.
Along with fighting for prison reform, Kim is also working on becoming an attorney, just like her late father Robert Kardashian Sr. Last month, she gave fans a sneak peek into her law school journey, revealing that she now needs reading glasses.
In the picture, she was seen wearing glasses while buried in law books, and dressed in a black tank top from her Skims clothing line. “Law school,” she simply captioned the image.
Several friends and family reacted to the photo in the comments section. “I love a MILFY lawyer,” her younger sister Khloe Kardashian quipped.
Kim’s close friend Jonathan Cheban wrote: “MACHINE! ! ! !” The billionaire mogul is currently in her seventh year of legal studies. She started a four-year apprenticeship with a San Francisco law firm in 2018. This summer, the mother-of-four updated fans on her progress towards becoming a lawyer.
“I can’t deal w all these f—king hearsay exceptions!” she ranted in an Instagram Story, “My least favorite subject in law school!”
