Kim Kardashian shocked fans when she made a brutal joke about her connection to OJ Simpson on the latest episode of The Kardashians.

The 43-year-old was devastated when she learned she was selected for jury duty during her birthday week. In a bid to get out of it, Kim joked she should exploit her connection to Simpson.

Kim’s father, Robert Kardashian, was friends with Simpson and was part of the defense team that represented him when he was accused of killing his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ron Goldman after they were stabbed to death outside her house in 1994. Simpson was acquitted by a jury.

Speaking in a confessional on The Kardashians, Kim said: “It’s my birthday week and on top of everything I have going on, I’ve been called to do jury duty and I can’t get out of this one.” She was then seen being driven around in an SUV as she said: “I wonder what kind of OJ thing I can say.

“Like, there’s some kind of OJ connection that will get me out of jury duty.” The reality star then made sure fans knew she wasn’t being serious as she said: “Just kidding.”

She then opened up about why she was so against serving as a juror. Kim told the cameras: “I think it’s fascinating, the process, and I think it’s a duty that we owe. I respect that.

“But it would be really hard for me to convict someone knowing the conditions that they were going into. Because I don’t think that prisons are set up to be rehabilitation centers. I would wanna serve but it would be really hard for me to make that decision.”

Kim spent four days at the Van Nuys Courthouse back in October as a prospective juror in a gang murder case. Two men had been charged with murder.

Lawyers eventually agreed on 12 jurors and four alternatives before Kim was questioned. She was then dismissed and left the courthouse with her Hulu cameras in tow.
