Lorraine Kelly revealed to fans that even she has been advised against discussing the Wagatha Christie trial on her hit show, as Coleen Rooney impresses viewers on I’m A Celebrity.

At the heart of the case are footballers’ wives Rebekah Vardy, 42, and Coleen Rooney, 38, with the former suing the latter for libel over allegations she made about her leaking stories.

During Tuesday’s instalment of Lorraine, the ITV show’s host, 64, discussed the latest I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! news, however, she revealed the show’s lawyers, have advised her to not to even say the words, Wagatha Christie.

Speaking to reporter Rishi Davda, Lorraine revealed: ‘Now this is very serious Rishi, we’ve had some advice from our lawyers that we can’t actually say Wagatha Christie.’

‘We can’t say Wagatha Christie because it’s owned by someone, so every time we say Wagatha Christie we have to pay Rebekah Vardy a pound.’

Lorraine proceeded to burst into a fit of giggles as Rishi chimed in with: ‘I don’t know the going rate actually.’

Laughing, Lorraine said: ‘So we’ll have to call it something else, what can we call it?’

Rishi then cleverly said: ‘We can abbreviate it to WC.’

When asked what is going on with the Wagatha Christie trial, Rishi added: ‘So, I mean we didn’t expect it to take particularly long, Coleen Rooney in the headlines recently, because of the WC, and as a result what we had was Dean asking her what went on.

‘And she was a little bit saddened by the whole thing saying it was her worst nightmare come to life.’

On Monday evening, the WAG spoke about her trial for the first time on I’m A Celebrity despite rival Rebekah ‘vowing to call in the lawyers’ if Coleen mentioned the trial in the jungle.

Hosts Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly were quick to poke fun at her recent legal battle with Rebekah, joking early in the launch show on Sunday that there would be ‘plenty more’ to come.

Coleen insisted the trial ‘wasn’t a joke to her’ as she confided in her campmates GK Barry, Jane Moore and Dean McCullough.

Wagatha Christie is the popular name given to Coleen and Rebekah’s £1.8 million court case, which culminated in 2022.

It began when Coleen put a widely shared post on Instagram which accused Rebekah of leaking ‘false stories’ about her private life to the press.

Rebekah denied the allegations and sued Coleen for libel, but the case – dubbed the Wagatha Christie trial – fell in Coleen’s favour, and left Rebekah liable to pay £1.5 million towards Coleen’s legal fees.

As the four sat around the creek getting to know one another, Dean took the opportunity once again to bring up the notorious case.

He said: ‘Can you imagine if Princess Diana would have done a Wagatha Christie!’

Jane told Coleen: ‘That was epic though what you did!’

Asked by GK if she was scared of posting it [the post which accused Rebekah of leaking stories], Coleen insisted she wasn’t.

She said: ‘No because I just didn’t think it would have the impact it did, because I was just that sick and tired of it, it was draining.

‘It was the fact that it carried on and carried on, that was my worst nightmare for it to go to court. She took me to court. I felt ashamed going to court because I’m not the type to play things out in public.

‘That was my worst nightmare to go to court. I felt like it was like putting on a show for the whole world.’

Coleen added: ‘I just felt like it was putting on a show for the whole world. I didn’t want that, I wanted to settle it before and get it done with.’

‘What got me, over the whole thing, was it became a bit of a joke and that’s really disappointing, it wasn’t a joke for me.

‘People were saying that it was just two schoolgirls but no one knew the full story.’

Just last month, Rebekah was ordered to pay £100,000 of the money she owes.

Before Coleen headed into the jungle, it was reported that Rebekah had instructed her lawyers to be primed and ready to pounce on Coleen if she re-ignited their bitter feud, according to The Sun.

Rebekah is on high alert and is also keen to remind ITV bosses and the show’s hosts, Ant and Dec that she owns the trademark to the phrase Wagatha Christie.

A source told the publication: ‘Becky was absolutely agog to hear Coleen was doing I’m A Celeb and fears a whole new round of allegations about their WAG war.’

‘What’s more, she knows Ant and Dec will make her the brunt of their jokes and be desperate to jump on the Wagatha Christie phrase.’

‘A very close eye will be kept on everything ITV air.’

And to make sure that nothing goes wrong, the star has instructed her lawyers to keep a close eye on Coleen’s time on the show.

ITV are thought to be keen to get the WAG involved with one of their daytime shows like Loose Women.

The Sun also reports that there is potential for her to do other shows such as a remake of her 2008 series Coleen’s Real Women.

The show followed Coleen who was set the challenge to find naturally beautiful women to be the face of major brands.

As well as TV work Coleen – who is thought to be being paid £1.5million for her Jungle stint – is reportedly hoping to bring out a swimwear line too.

The insider added that Coleen’s friends know her as someone ‘intelligent and not afraid to speak her mind’ – so she would be perfect for the show.
