Strictly fans are convinced they know the identity of blind comedian Chris McCausland’s celebrity partner.

Chris, 47, also an actor, was the first name revealed to be taking part in the 22nd series of Strictly, which begins on Saturday.

He is the first blind contestant to ever take part in the BBC dance competition, though there has previously been a deaf contestant.

On Wednesday, Strictly shared a ‘get to know me’-style video of Chris to their Instagram page.

In the video, Chris makes a funny face, in which he sticks out his tongue, and he also makes the sign of the horns.

Social media sleuths revealed that this is a common pose undertaken by none other than Dianne Buswell.

According to The Sun, one wrote: ‘The [sign of the horns] is something Dianne does with lots of her fans, I’ve seen it in a few photos of her and the girls that go to the tours.

And another, albeit doubtful, observer said: ‘Definitely a stretch and just a weird coincidence but maybe a sign who knows.’

In the promotional video, Chris joked he’s looking forward to ‘mosh pits and headbanging week’ and hilariously quipped that he doesn’t have an opinion on Strictly because he’d never ‘seen’ it.

He revealed his favourite previous contestant was Les Dennis because, like Chris, he is a comedian from Liverpool.

Never one to miss an opportunity to crack a joke, even when being complimentary, Chris thanked Les for being the first celeb kicked out – thus lowering the bar for Chris.

In a heartwarming admission, he said he chose to take on Strictly because: ‘I think sometimes the scariest things I’ve done have been the best experiences.

‘And this is terrifying! So, I’m expecting it to be amazing … or three weeks I’ll never live down.

Chris said on Monday: ‘I’ve never seen the show for obvious reasons. I can’t even go back and watch it to see what it involves, how intricate the dances are.

‘All we can do is figure it out as we’re going along because I need to be in it and doing it to see what works and what doesn’t.’

He continued: ‘I’ll be having a laugh. There’s no point in me being here if I can’t have a laugh along the way and take the mickey out of myself a little bit.’

‘There will be things that I probably can’t do or I get wrong and you need to roll with it and be able to laugh at the failures because hopefully I won’t be the only one making mistakes.’
