Susanna Reid’s face completely dropped as Jimmy Tarbuck paid her a ‘backhanded compliment’ during Monday morning’s GMB.

The veteran entertainer and former host of Sunday Night at the London Palladium, 84, left the Good Morning Britain host startled at the end of his interview.

Jimmy appeared on the show to celebrate working in the showbiz industry for an incredibly 60 years but threw some shade at Susanna on the way out of the studio.

Susanna’s jaw-dropped as the comedian compared her to her former co-host Piers Morgan.

Jimmy said to Susanna: ‘Do you know what my kids called you? Think of the guy you worked with a lot, used too. You’re him… in a wig. Piers Morgan in a wig’.

Before quickly following up with: ‘Oh no, that’s a compliment!’, as he saw Susanna’s shocked and offended reaction.

Susanna responded: ‘Oh I’m glad you pointed that out as a compliment because I’m not sure that sounds like a compliment!’

Viewers responded to the awkward segment on X, claiming it ‘made their morning’ when they spotted Susanna’s face drop after Jimmy’s statement.

Jimmy, whose sixty-year career in showbusiness includes hosting Sunday Night at the London Palladium in the mid-sixties, a show which enjoyed an eighties reboot as Live from Her Majesty’s.

He has also hosted TV game shows Winner Takes All, Full Swing and Tarby’s Frame Game, and was the regular host of Tarby’s Bar during ITV’s coverage of the FA Cup Final.

Susanna finally made her return to GMB after a lengthy summer break – but viewers all said the same thing about her striking outfit.

The presenter commanded attention as she made her comeback to the ITV breakfast programme in a bright blue suit, complete with a large white satin bowtie around her neck.

She further accessorized with a funky pair of tortoiseshell glasses with a very thick frame as she appeared on screens alongside her co-host Ed Balls.

Susanna celebrated her return with a quick selfie on social media alongside the caption: ‘Back to school!,’ which has already been seen by more than 25,000 people.

While many fans were delighted to have the ‘gorgeous’ presenter back on GMB and flooding her replies with welcome back messages, others couldn’t help but compare her quirky outfit to a number of characters and celebrities.

From Austin Powers and Jamie Foxx in Django Unchained to Margaret Thatcher, the comparisons have been flooding in.

Viewers took to X (formerly Twitter) to quip: ‘I’m getting Austin Powers vibes’, ‘What on earth is Susanna wearing?’, ‘Austin Powers’.
