This is the emotional moment a young singer with PoTS Syndrome left the judges stunned with her breathtaking rendition of Golden Slumbers by The Beatles on The Voice UK on Saturday.

Kyra Smith, 20, from Manchester, wowed the coaches with her audition and earned two chair turns from McFly duo Tom Fletcher and Danny Jones, and Sir Tom Jones.

POTS, or Postural tachycardia syndrome is when your heart rate increases very quickly after getting up from sitting or lying down.

The Mancunian musician bravely opened up about how her condition affected her singing and that she had to re-learn how to sing sitting down, since she became an ambulatory wheelchair user one year ago.

Speaking ahead of her audition, Kyra explained: ‘A couple of years ago my life kind of flipped on its head. All of a sudden, my health rapidly declined.

‘I was bed-bound for months and then I was diagnosed with a chronic illness called PoTS syndrome.’

Kyra’s mother explained that her ‘brain and her heart can’t communicate properly’ and she ‘can’t stand up’.

‘The past couple of years definitely sucked,’ Kyra admitted, ‘What helped me most was music.

‘The condition has definitely affected my singing. You’re always taught you need to stand up for good projection so I had to re-learn how to sing sat down.’

‘I’d like to show people that even if you’ve got limitations it doesn’t have to stop you from doing something like this.’

She went on to deliver a show-stopping performance which left the judges stunned – and Tom Fletcher and Danny Jones and Sir Tom Jones battling it out for who would get the talented singer on their team.

The judges praised Kyra for her ‘interesting and unique sound,’ with the 20-year-old bursting into tears when Sir Tom complimented her ‘lovely’ rendition.

‘Sorry, I didn’t think I would cry,’ she admitted as she began to get emotional.

‘There’s so much more work to be done to make performing more accessible so I think having you on this show is doing an amazing thing for other people like you – wheelchair users who want to be on stage performing,’ added Tom Fletcher.

‘That was a gorgeous version of a Beatles classic. Well done Kyra. I love her! #TheVoiceUK.’

The new series of The Voice UK kicked off on Saturday night as a wave of new musical hopefuls attempt to bag a record deal.

In a coaching shake-up, Grammy award-winner LeAnn Rimes, and McFly’s Tom Fletcher and Danny Jones are joining Tom Jones and Will.i.iam on the hunt for a musical superstar.

However, as the new season began on ITV, fans were left puzzled by the first act who earned a whopping four chair turns from the judges as they are ‘already successful’.

Liverpudlian boyband Mic Lowry took to the stage and performed a show-stopping rendition of Just a Friend 2002 by Mario.

But, some viewers were disappointed that the four-piece band is already successful and have ‘performed all around the world,’ boasting an Instagram following of 125,000.

The group, which is currently made up of Delleile Ankrah, Kaine Ofoeme, Ben Sharples and Michael Welch, won the MOBO Unsung Award in 2014 and, in the same year played a slot on the BBC Introducing Stage at Glastonbury.
