Liam Payne’s death shocked the music world

A heartbreaking unreleased song by tragic star Liam Payne contains lyrics that read like a haunting cry for help, it is claimed.

In a tragic turn of events, former One Direction star Liam Payne died at the age of 31 after falling from a third-floor balcony while on holiday in Buenos Aires, Argentina, on October 16.

A songwriter named Adam Midgley has now taken to TikTok to share an unreleased track that he worked on with Liam, revealing heart-wrenching lyrics like: “If I’m lost in the dark now, will you hear me when I call out? Does it ever get easier?” The clip, according to Midgley, was recorded during a time they spent together creating music.

In the song, Payne’s voice can be heard expressing vulnerability with lines such as: “I’m a little less high than I used to be. Still a little uncertain of everything. I keep hearing I’m right where I’m supposed to be, so tryna find out what that’s supposed to mean”, and “And I’m all in my head now, every night when I lay down. Does it ever get easier? […] Oh, look what you’ve done, what have you done? Telling myself, look what you’ve done, was it ever enough?”

Adam, who is reportedly signed to Universal Music – the same label that represented Liam before dropping him – is known for co-writing hits including Dua Lipa’s Hotter Than Hell. On TikTok, he shared a lengthy caption explaining the song’s backstory and paid homage to Liam, mentioning their meeting in 2019 when Liam was struggling post-One Direction and following a breakup.

“Liam wasn’t used to writing his own songs but we spoke for hours about what he’d been through in his life and I wanted to help him try and express things he was bottling up. He was incredibly kind and welcoming to me…we got on so well [that] I ended up going to stay with him for a while in this beautiful home he owned near Malibu.”

Adam revealed that Payne “had such crazy stories and such an unbelievable life,” sharing anecdotes that “blew his mind”.
