Kate Garraway has made a heartbreaking admission about her future during a chat on Good Morning Britain today.
The ITV host – who sat alongside Adil Ray on the breakfast show this morning – was chatting with presenter and comedian Paddy McGuinness about his career and latest job, when she made her own admission about retiring.

The road trip will see the duo head to Sweden, Greece and Switzerland, where they will face multiple midlife experiences. The show is expected to air later in the year as part of a three-part series. Speaking about the show, Paddy quipped: “I’m very much looking forward to getting back on the road with Chris Harris. Not so much looking forward to sharing a confined space with him. He doesn’t believe in deodorant. On the plus side he’ll give me something to laugh at along the way. Bring it on!”
Kate made the admission just a few months after losing her husband Derek Draper. She had to take some time away from the show earlier this month but has since returned. In her first show back, she shared her own experience of being a carer as she chatted with some guests who had got married after meeting whilst caring for their partners who had dementia.
Speaking about her own experiences, Kate shared: “This is something that I have been through a little bit. Derek did not have dementia but there was a sense after COVID he was absolutely the same person, still loved him as much but there was a change.

“And with dementia, this doesn’t happen overnight because it’s something very slowly and the person caring for them has to learn how to love that person that they still love in a different way.”

Derek passed away in January, with Kate issuing a heartbreaking tribute to him online. She wrote at the time: “I’m sad to have to tell you all that my darling husband Derek has passed away. As some of you may know he has been critically ill following a cardiac arrest in early December which, because of the damage inflicted by Covid in March 2020, led to further complications.
“Derek was surrounded by his family in his final days and I was by his side holding his hand throughout the last long hours and when he passed. I have so much more to say, and of course I will do so in due course, but for now I just want to thank all the medical teams who fought so hard to save him and to make his final moments as comfortable and dignified as possible. Sending so much love and thanks to all of you who have so generously given our family so much support.”
