The TV presenter, 49, appeared on screen in her full costume from her role in the Peter Pan pantomime, at Birmingham’s Hippodrome Theatre.
During the segment, Kate asked Alison about her favourite part of performing in panto, and the ITV star shared a heartfelt story about her late mother.
Alison said: ‘Do you remember last year when lovely Dermot (O’Leary) and the whole team brought me a wonderful chair with the plaque of my mum’s name on it?
‘It’s dead centre in the middle of the stage and literally, it’s like I’m performing to my mum. It means the world to me, it’s beautiful. It’s lovely to be back.’
She explained the emotional connection further, adding: ‘I look at the person (in the seat), the person thinks I’m looking at them, I’m not! I’m seeing my mum!’

Asked what her favourite part of performing in panto was, the ITV star shared a heartfelt story about her late mother Maria who died in January 2020 from lung and liver cancer
Last December, Alison broke down into floods of tears as she was surprised with a seat named in her honour at her hometown theatre while filming the This Morning Christmas Day special.
As a sequin-clad Alison – who was performing in the Jack And The Beanstalk panto at the time – received her gift from her co-host Dermot, 51, he told her: ‘The Birmingham Hippodrome, it’s a very special place for you and a lifelong dream that you’re performing there.’
After Birmingham-born Alison agreed it was a ‘massively’ special place for her, he revealed: ‘So, we’ve named a seat ‘Alison Hammond, TV queen and pantomime star’.
‘That’s named after you in perpetuity, forever.’
Alison broke down in tears at the news, saying: ‘I’m so sorry I’m crying, you don’t understand what that would have meant to my mum.’
Dermot then revealed they have one more surprise for Alison as he added: ‘With that in mind, we know you used to go there with your mother so we’ve got the next seat along, we’ve just named it after your mother.
‘Now, we know also, we’ve talked about it many times that one of her favourite musicals was West Side Story so we’ve put ‘the most beautiful sound I ever heard, Maria’ on there.’
After Dermot embraced an emotional Alison, she thanked the team saying: ‘Thank you so much, that’s the best Christmas present I ever had.

Maria died in January 2020 from lung and liver cancer, months before her father Clifford also died.
Revealing her mother’s passing at the time, Alison wrote on X that her mother had been battling liver and lung cancer.
Sharing pictures of her beloved mother, she wrote: ‘I am dedicating this Valentines to my beautiful Mother who sadly passed away from liver and lung cancer.
‘My family and I laid mummy to rest yesterday in a beautiful ceremony which I know she would have loved.
‘RIP my best friend and Living Angel please come to my dreams. ♥️♥️’
The Big Brother star suffered a double tragedy in 2020 when her father Clifford, who lived in Jamaica, passed away just six months after Alison’s mother’s death.
Alison shared on social media that she didn’t get to spend as much time with her father as she would’ve liked.
She said she was ‘saddened’ to not be able to attend Clifford’s funeral and was left with ‘a sense of loss and emptiness.’

During Friday’s show, Alison touched more about her role as a mermaid in Peter Pan.
She said: ‘It’s a wonderful panto and here, obviously we’re in godsland, Birmingham, so it’s one of those theatres that it doesn’t matter where you sit in the theatre, every seat is beautiful.
‘They are the best crowd, in Birmingham you get the best crowd. I was here last year and because I loved it so much, I thought, you know what, I’m coming back!’
As Kate complimented her appearance in last year’s show, Alison then teased that this one was on ‘another scale’.
