Ryan Garcia and Devin Haney squared off in what was supposed to be a straightforward title bout. But things went sideways quite quickly! Garcia missed weight, making him ineligible for Haney’s WBC super lightweight title.  Then came the bombshell: ‘King Ry’ tested positive for a banned substance, and his win vanished like a magician’s rabbit. Now it’s a no-contest, and Haney’s pristine record remains intact at 31-0.

But Haney isn’t content with just keeping his zero. He’s going for the knockout in the court of law. As per reports from Boxing Scene, Haney has pressed charges. The lawsuit alleges battery, fraud, and unjust enrichment.

Devin Haney’s team isn’t pulling any punches. They claim Garcia’s actions caused “physical injury, reputational damage, and emotional distress” to their fighter. It also takes a swipe at Garcia’s behavior outside the ring. Apparently, there was specific language in their bout agreement about not using performance-enhancing drugs.

The lawsuit also quotes that Garcia allegedly said he was “high as f*ck” during the fight. Now, that can be counted as a confession. This legal battle isn’t just about personal beef. It’s raising serious questions about the integrity of boxing. The financial stakes are high, too. We’re talking millions in potential damages and a tug-of-war over pay-per-view profits.

Ryan Garcia Responds To Devin Haney Suing Him

‘King Ry’ is not one to keep quiet about anything. The young boxer decided to throw some shade via Instagram after Haney sued him, including charges of battery, fraud, and unjust enrichment.

However, Ryan Garcia is cracking jokes in this situation. His Instagram response is a masterclass in not taking things too seriously. He compared the entire fiasco to a Netflix documentary and believed that Haney was just in denial about his loss.

I’m being sued for doing my Job. This fight has been a Netflix documentary but this right here is the finale. Your honor, he simply struggles with left hook syndrome,” wrote Garcia via Instagram.

Is ranting on Instagram the smartest move, legally speaking? Probably not. But in the court of public opinion? Garcia might just be winning some points. He’s painting himself as the carefree underdog, facing off against the serious, suit-wielding Haney!
