Ruth Langsford has been left “devastated” over the breakdown of her marriage to Eamonn Holmes.

The Loose Women host, 64, is looking to the future after her marriage to Eamonn, also 64, came to an end. It’s been a particularly tough few weeks for the presenter and mum-of-one as her ex-husband’s relationship with new girlfriend Katie Alexander, 42, hit the headlines when the pair jetted off on their first holiday together.

Pictures emerged last week of Eamonn and his new girlfriend at Barcelona port heading off on a luxury cruise together. A source has revealed that Ruth has found her ex-husband’s ability to move on so quickly “quite devastating”. Ruth has been leaning on the support of her close friends following the split and has been living it up with Rylan Clark. The couple recently enjoyed a boozy night out at his Essex home with Lizzie Cundy.

Rylan took to Instagram to document their fun night as the trio “put the world to rights”, with Ruth jokingly drinking two cocktails at once. The source told New Magazine: “She’s just trying to get on with life and be around good friends, she’s partying through the pain and is trying to get through it. Ruth is distracting herself and doing things that make her happy – keeping busy and being around friends, family and work is the only way she can get through it.”

Eamonn’s relationship with Katie was revealed after he moved out of the family home her shared with Ruth in Surrey. The GB News and Loose Women host share son Jack while Eamonn has three children from his marriage to Gabrielle Holmes.

Last week, Ruth concerned Loose Women viewers after she returned to ITV to host following reports of her ex’s holiday with Katie. One tweeted: “Cannot be easy for Ruth when Eamonn features in most newspapers.”

Another said: “You can tell that Ruth has been hurting from the pictures of Eamonn with her younger blondie, Ruth looks like she has been crying as her eyes looks puffed up,” before adding: “I can’t wait to see Ruth’s new boyfriend #loosewomen.”

Eamonn was seen on a mobility scooter while his new girlfriend walked beside him as they embarked on a cruise last week. Meanwhile, Ruth issued a heartbreaking show of support to her ex-husband. The mum-of-one was seen wearing her wedding ring as she videoed herself before going into a meeting for Loose Women.

The former couple met in 1997 when they were introduced by a mutual friend two years after he split from his wife Gabrielle, with whom he has three children. Eamonn and Ruth welcomed their son Jack in 2002 and dated for over a decade before they tied the knot in 2010. The TV couple are due to begin divorce proceedings later this year after being married for 14 years.
