King Charles news: Monarch to return to ‘normal’ overseas schedule in 2025 amid cancer treatment

Huge news for the royal family: It has been announced that King Charles will return to a normal working schedule next year!

The King has been undergoing treatment for cancer in 2024, having been diagnosed with the disease earlier this year.

The King has been on an overseas trip recently to visit Australia and Samoa.

Charles, 75, spent nine days on the other side of the world alongside his wife, the Queen, Camilla, this month.

And according to a palace aide, the monarch has “genuinely loved” his time abroad.

“He has genuinely loved this tour. He has genuinely thrived on the programme. It’s lifted his spirits, his mood and his recovery. In that sense, the tour – despite its demands – has been the perfect tonic,” the aide said.

“It is hard to overstate the joy that he takes from duty and service and being in public and seeing those crowds engaging with communities across the spectrum. That really does lift the spirits. You can see that,” they then added.

More trips abroad for the King

The King is said to be a big believer in a holistic approach – of “mind, body and soul”. The tour has had a huge benefit on all three.

It seems as though now the King wants to respond to his cancer treatment by continuing to work. This could mean overseas visits in the spring and autumn next year – if approved by his doctors, of course.

“We’re now working on a pretty normal looking, full overseas tour programme for next year, which is a high for us to end on,” the palace aide then said.

However, it’ll be the government who decide where the King goes, not the monarch.

Charles has paused his cancer treatment whilst out in Australia and Samoa. He is expected to resume it when he returns to the UK.

King Charles news: Monarch ‘doing what he can’ amid treatment

Last week, the King’s stepson, Tom Parker Bowles, spoke to PEOPLE magazine about the monarch.

“The King is strong. He is doing what he can. He’s following the advice of his doctors. Fingers crossed, touch wood,” he said.

“He’s a magnificent King. It’s a terrifying disease, and when someone close to you gets it in whatever capacity, it’s a very worrying thing,” he then continued.

“But my mother is strong as well. She supports him in every way. I think it’s wonderful to have someone you love by your side.”
