The Traitors kicked off its long-awaited third series on New Year’s Day, with a new crop of hopefuls vying to pass as a faithful and win a share of the prize fund.
But while the first episode was packed with a string of twists, including the culling of three contestants just five minutes into the episode, one was quickly branded ‘pointless’ by fans.
Charlotte, a business director from Hampshire, originally painted herself as a sunny character from Wales, quickly forming a friendship with Elen.
However, she was quick to reveal in her confessional that she wasn’t from Wales, quickly switching from her Valleys tone to her real London accent.
While Charlotte said she hoped that being Welsh would paint in a more Faithful-friendly light, viewers were quick to cast doubt on the move.
Some branded the twist ‘pointless and unnecessary,’ while others were quick to predict that Elen, who works as a translator, would ‘suss her out.’

Posts on X included: ‘Charlotte deciding to put on a Welsh accent is both the incredible game move on #TheTraitors yet… and the most foolish I can’t wait for the episode where she reveals her real accent and everyone votes her off;
‘I love that Charlotte is pretending to be Welsh but surely at some point you’d completely forget that you needed to put the Welsh accent on and be instantly out;
‘My favouurite thing about Charlotte pretending to be Welsh is that it’s completely unnecessary and that’s what makes it so camp like it’s giving The Circle rather than #TheTraitors;
‘Surely Charlotte is going to get sussed soon, she’s dropping her accent so many times;
‘Elen is a Welsh translator she’ll definitely suss Charlotte out with her fake Welsh accent.’
It came after fans hailed a brutal twist minutes into the first episode, before host Claudia Winkleman revealed another major change to the game.
On Wednesday night, the third series kicked off in the Scottish Highlands as the first three Traitors were picked.
But the drama began before they even arrived as when they were heading to the castle on the train.

Fans were quick to take to X, formerly known as Twitter, to share their thoughts on Charlotte’s unlikely tactic
The 25 players were split into three carriages and each carriage were met with a huge shock when the train stopped suddenly.
The train then started moving backwards as Claudia told them each carriage had to pick one person to leave the train and the show.
Jack, Alexander and Fozia eventually volunteered to leave but it remains to be seen if they will later return to the show or if they are actually gone for good.
Later in the show Claudia revealed another huge change to the show as she told the contestants that when people are eliminated they will no longer reveal if they are a Traitor or Faithful.
The show sees several Traitors be picked at the start of the series while the other contestants are Faithfuls.
Over the course of the game the Traitors have to convince the rest of the players that they are Faithful in order to try and steal the whole prize pot for themselves at the end.
At the first round table Armani, Minah and Linda were selected as the first three Traitors. On the first night they murdered Yin who was then eliminated from the show.
