Eddie Hearn speaks out on ‘f**king disaster’ after Tyson Fury vs Oleksandr Usyk fight hit with major setback

Eddie Hearn shared his thoughts on the fight cancellation.

Eddie Hearn has spoken out on the ‘f**king disaster’ after the Oleksandr Usyk vs. Tyson Fury 2 undercard suffered a major setback.

Usyk and Fury rematch for the WBA (super), WBC and WBO world heavyweight titles in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on Saturday.

A stacked undercard sees heavyweight prospects Moses Itauma and Johnny Fisher return to action in separate bouts.

But Dennis McCann vs. Peter McGrail won’t be taking place on the undercard following a failed pre-fight drug test, with Chris Eubank Jr making his feelings clear on social media.

McCann was removed from the event due to an adverse finding in his pre-fight drug test with the Voluntary Ant-Doping Association (VADA).

A statement from the fighter’s promotional outfit, Queensberry, read: “The Voluntary Anti-Doping Association (VADA) has today informed all relevant parties that Dennis McCann has returned an adverse finding following an anti-doping test conducted in advance of his upcoming bout.

“Mr. McCann’s scheduled fight next Saturday will no longer take place, as the relevant parties investigate the matter further. No further comment on this will be made at this time.”

Hearn, who promotes McGrail, has shared his thoughts on the fight cancellation, calling it a ‘f**king disaster’ as he reflected on the situation.

Speaking to iFL TV, he explained: “Sometimes failed drug tests are a blessing because that’s the reason it’s in place to find out if someone’s got illegal substances in their body and the fight’s been stopped before that fight took place.

“And obviously at the same time it’s a f**king disaster because one everyone’s looking forward to the fight and two it doesn’t look good for the sport of boxing so let Dennis go through his procedure.

“Not my fighter, not my issue, but give him the chance to go through the procedure.”

McGrail has travelled to the Middle East and is on standby to fight on the Usyk vs. Fury 2 card.
