Strictly Come Dancing has crowned its 2024 champion, but not everyone agrees with the outcome.
After an intense 12-week journey of rehearsals and live performances every Saturday, Chris McCausland and Dianne Buswell emerged victorious.
The judges were particularly moved by Chris’s emotive waltz to the Liverpool anthem You’ll Never Walk Alone, as well as the couple’s choice routine to John Lennon’s Instant Karma.
Despite the celebratory group hugs and heartfelt speeches that touched many viewers, there was a sense among some that another duo might have been more deserving of the glitterball trophy this year. While Chris’s performance brought judge Shirley to tears, others argued that Tasha was technically superior on the dance floor.

In a cringe-worthy moment during the final, Strictly’s Vito Coppola experienced an embarrassing trouser mishap.
The competition was fierce, with JLS’s JB Gill dancing with Lauren Oakley, actress Sarah Hadland partnering with Vito Coppola, and Tasha Ghouri teaming up with Aljaz Skorjanec all vying for the title in the grand finale. However, murmurs from the audience suggested that perhaps a different contestant should have taken home the win, reports the Daily Star.

One viewer expressed disappointment on X, stating: “Such a shame people vote for their favourite celebrity, not the best dancer. It’s been clear from day one who would win, simply based on who they are, not how they dance.”

While some viewers acknowledged that Chris might not have been the best dancer, a point highlighted by Anton Du Beke on the show, they felt he had overcome the most hurdles. One viewer expressed: “Chris is the weakest of the 4 finalists. But he is the most deserving winner.”
Another chimed in: “Tasha and Sarah should have won, they were much more sleek on the dance floor. But Chris is still a worthy winner.”
Some fans thought Tasha and Alijaz deserved the trophy
A fourth fan wrote: “Chris was amazing but Tasha was technically better.”
Chris has been dubbed this year’s dark horse, having joined the series as its first ever visually-impaired contestant. Since then, Chris has captured the nation’s hearts.
Under Dianne’s careful guidance, he’s blossomed into a dancing sensation.
