Kim Kardashian has finally explained why she spends so much time working after facing widespread backlash from fans for ignoring her parenting responsibilities.

The mom-of-four has come under fire in recent weeks for shaming her sister Khloe Kardashian for her decision to stay at home and look after her two children. Many fans have criticized Kim for her fury at Khloe and slammed her for “never prioritizing being a mother”.

Now, Kim has opened up about her parenting struggles and admitted she treats work as a form of escapism. Speaking to Khloe on the latest episode of The Kardashians, she said: “I feel like working is my escape, my happy place.”

However, it seems like things are changing for Kim as she admitted she now has a “peaceful household”. She explained: “I started to see a therapist, and I just saw her once, but the simplest thing that she told me was to take down screen time.”

The SKIMS founder added: “Having strict rules on like, there can be no phones during meals, they’re gonna fight and kick and scream for like a week. And then you gotta get through it. And I never wanted to deal for that week.”

Khloe admitted she was happy Kim had taken the advice on board. She told the cameras: “I am super proud of Kimberly for wanting to take a stricter approach to her kids and sometimes it takes just a third party or a different voice for you to register something.”

Kim’s comments come after she slammed Khloe in the last episode of The Kardashians for calling her daughter True Thompson in the middle of a family meal. Kim and Khloe had joined their sister Kendall Jenner and mom Kris Jenner in Aspen when the drama unfolded.

Khloe called her daughter to say goodnight, but Kim wasn’t happy. Kim fumed: “She just is so stuck on what’s going on at home that she can’t have a good time. We don’t get to do this very often anymore, it’s like really rare that we go on these family vacations and I just want like Khloe to like enjoy the dinner, enjoy the moment, be present with us.”

Fans quickly took to Reddit to share their thoughts, with many hitting out at Kim. “Kim’s parenting is that she’s never home and the nanny raises the kids,” one person blasted. Another agreed: “Kim has never prioritized being a mother,” while a third viewer said: “If I were faced with Kim’s company and that’s how she treated me, I’d be FaceTiming my loving kids too.”

However, other fans jumped in to defend Kim. “Kim is super annoying and tries to get a reaction but she got a point,” one person said. Another added: “I would be so annoyed if I’m at dinner with family and someone starts FaceTiming their kid lol just do it before or after dinner.”
