Fans can’t believe what Floyd Mayweather did during controversial rematch against John Gotti III

Floyd Mayweather returned to the ring for an exhibition bout against John Gotti III and it was full of controversy.

Floyd Mayweather returned to the ring on Saturday night for an exhibition bout full of controversy.

Mayweather’s last professional contest was back in 2017 when he moved to 50-0 in the superfight against Conor McGregor.

He was since competed in eight exhibition contests all over world – the latest of which was a rematch against John Gotti III, the son of one of America’s most notorious crime bosses.

The first encounter in June 2023 was stopped in the sixth round due to excessive trash talking and a wild brawl, leading to a follow up at Arena CDMX in Mexico City, Mexico, this weekend.

Mayweather coasted to a victory in the 16-minute bout, made up of eight two-minute rounds.

But the tear-up had an utterly bizarre moment in the second round when Mayweather appeared to sack the referee.

The 47-year-old caught Gotti with a hook that the referee deemed to have been behind the head.

Mayweather was left furious as he felt the strike was legal and he decided to take action.

He shoved the ref’s arm and gestured for him to leave, screaming, “Move out the way!”.

With one minute of the second round gone Mayweather continued to argue and vent.

Floyd Mayweather just fired the ref for a bad call in the middle of the fight 😭😭

And he got his wish as following a substantial delay, a second referee appeared and, in an almost unprecedented move, officiated the rest of the fight.

Fans were left stunned by Mayweather’s antics and how his power saw him get his own way.

One wrote: “Only Floyd can do that.”

Another said: “That’s a new one.”

A third added: “Lmao wtf is this. Floyd is him.”

A fourth commented: “Yeah he definitely the goat for that ain’t none of the greats do that.”

A final user fumed: “Typical Floyd not letting a man do a job he was paid to do even do he got the right call.”

Mayweather won a one-sided affair and embraced Gotti after the fight, praising his opponent.

“We had to put on a show for the people,” he said.

“I want to thank Gotti for being a man of his word.”
