One fan asked: “How were Sam and Nikita that low?”

This viewer replied: “Because its week one and they went second there’s no benchmark, so they’re underscored to start and the dancers who come later get better marks even if they don’t’ deserve them.”

A second echoed: “From memory she was second? I think just that’s why – they don’t know the overall levels at the very beginning so more likely to underscore.”

A third said: “Totally agree. If I remember correctly, the comments didn’t seem to match the low scores too. Anton in particular seemed bizarre with his scoring that night.”

“Judges tend to score higher later in the show as they “warm up” and they were one of the first couples,” a fourth added.

While other viewers were left confused how Go Compare star Wynne Evans, 52, managed to score higher than some of the other celebs.

Sam found herself overall seventh in the leaderboard and Gladiators star Montell managed to bag fourth position, the same as Wynne.

HEARTBROKEN PETE

But some were not impressed with Welsh singer Wynne’s skills and thought he was overmarked.

One confused viewer: “Jamie [Borthwick], Montell and Sam not being higher than Wynne was perplexing.”

A second posted: “I know! Wynne was entertaining but his footwork was sloppy compared to Jamie, Montell and Sam!”

While JB Gill and Tasha Ghouri topped the leaderboard in week one,

But singer-songwriter Toyah Wilcox, Pete Wicks and Arsenal legend Paul Merson found themselves at the lower end.

It comes after fans spotted the moment reality star Pete was left gutted at his dismal show score.

He performed a Paso Doble with pro Jowita Przystal, 30.

The judges dished out a score of 17, with Motsi Mabuse and Anton Du Beke both showing their five paddles.

Yet after learning it placed him mid-table at the time, fans reckoned he looked less than impressed.

His partner Jowita urged him to believe in himself more and said: “Tonight is the night you proved you can.

“You can. Because you’ve danced a beautiful Paso Doble and I’m looking forward to another week of rehearsals.”

They unkindly pinpointed his expression in the moment he was given a five score and put: “I wish to hang this pained grimace in The Louvre.”

Another noted: “Pete already seeming like he can’t take constructive criticism.. yeah I don’t see him lasting long in this.”

One then uploaded a GIF which said: “You can usually pinpoint the moment his heart ripped in half.”

Elsewhere, Love Island’s Tasha came under fire for scoring 30 points – despite her dance experience.

She shot to second on the leaderboard on Saturday night alongside Aljaz Skorjanec after their cha cha to Espresso by Sabrina Carpenter.

But one frustrated viewer wrote: “”Tasha getting all high scores but sure she’s a professional dancer, bit unfair.”

A second posted: “Isn’t Tasha Ghouri a professional dancer? Wasn’t that a thing when she was in Love Island?”
