Eamonn Holmes, 64, and girlfriend, 42, ‘sent cheeky messages to each other over a decade ago’
Eamonn Holmes and his younger girlfriend are said to have exchanged ‘flirty’ messages with one another over a decade ago after meeting on social media
Eamonn Holmes and his girlfriend reportedly exchanged cheeky messages over a decade ago.
Earlier this year, Eamonn, 64, announced his split from Loose Women anchor Ruth Langsford, also 64, leaving the showbiz circuit speechless. The once golden couple had appeared to be all smiley on the outside but in the months leading up to their shock announcement, it appeared that their relationship had been turning sour behind the scenes after 14 years of marriage
Previously, it was claimed that the GB News broadcaster and Katie Alexander, 42, had met in 2015 on social media. However, sources have now reportedly disputed this and claim that they met three years prior. But their initial friendship is said to have included Katie’s ex-husband, George, who she split from in 2022 after 12 years together.
George, 53, even joked at one point that Katie had been “flirting” with Eamonn, later joking on X, formerly Twitter: “Good job we’re both Red,” as the pair both support Manchester United. Speaking to The Sun, a source reportedly said: “We knew Eamonn and Katie got together via social media, but no one knew how far back they went. Ruth will be shocked they were in contact 12 years ago. I don’t think she would have known.”

They went on to suggest that Eamonn “gets a buzz” from replying to fans. However, they noted that he and Katie “had a real connection” which eventually turned romantic. “At the outset George joined in with the online banter. He would never have guessed Katie was going to get together with Eamonn years down the line,” they claimed.
There is no suggestion that Eamonn and Katie became romantically involved while still married. The revelation comes after Eamonn’s estranged wife admitted she had never planned for disasters ad has no plan B. Speaking to woman&home, Ruth was asked if she’d ever has a back-up plan for things going wrong, and she confessed she does not. She told the magazine: “I don’t have a plan B because I never had a plan A. Ever!”
She went on to lavish praise on her son, Jack, branding him: “The most delightful, caring and wonderful young man.” In the same interview, she also hinted she has not completely given up on love following her shock marriage split – as she wished her son success in finding a happy romance of his own.
Asked what she wants most in life, Ruth candidly replied: “Happiness. Happiness for my son Jack. When you have children, you look at them starting out in life and you just want everything to be good for them, for them to be happy and to not have their hearts broken.” Ruth and Eamonn confirmed their split through a representative, who said: “Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes have confirmed their marriage is over and they are in the process of divorcing.”
