Cat Deeley has revealed she’d quit her job for the sake of her mental health.
The presenter, 47, alongside co-star Ben Shephard, 49, was drafted into replace Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield last year after the former anchors left amid a cloud of controversy.
And while she’s settled into her big new role, Cat told Grazia magazine how she won’t hesitate to walk away from a job if her wellbeing was compromised.
Meanwhile, Cat opened up about the rumours of toxic culture on This Morning, insisting that she’d seen nothing that could back the hearsay up.
Speaking in a new interview, Cat addressed whether she felt ‘vulnerable’ stepping into Holly’s shoes, amid her predecessor’s kidnap and stalking ordeal.

Last year, Holly, 43, was forced to step down from This Morning after 14 years amid a terrifying kidnap threat after stalker Gavin Plumb planned to kidnap, rape and murder her.
Revealing that she’d ‘walk away’ if things became difficult for her mentally, Cat shared: ‘I don’t feel particularly vulnerable. And I’d always think about my own mental health. If something was affecting me, or I hated going into work, I’d walk away. It’s more important that I enjoy what I do.’
During the chat, Cat also referred to the rumours of toxic working culture on This Morning which came about when Dr Ranj slammed the ‘toxic’ culture at the ITV daytime show in the wake of the scandal into Phillip’s ‘unwise’ affair with a younger male colleague.
The TV doctor, who left the show in 2022, claimed he was ‘managed out’ after taking his concerns to ‘the top’ of ITV, raising even more questions for bosses about whether they knew and when.
Following his claims, Phillip issued his statement insisting there had been ‘no toxicity’ at This Morning, causing his former co-star Eamonn Holmes to brand him ‘delusional’.
Discussing the issue, Cat said: ‘Well, obviously Ben and I had heard all of those stories. I can only speak as I find it, and I have no idea what happened before we were there, but I haven’t seen one scrap of it.’
Instead of focusing on the negative, Cat has thrown herself into the role and while she’s the picture of confidence and professionalism on screen, Cat admits it hasn’t always been this way as she told how she was ‘terrible’ at the start of her career.
Being just 21-year-old when she landed a job hosting SM:TV Live alongside Ant and Dec, Cat added that if she was scrutinised by viewers in the same way she is at This Morning, she would struggle to ‘survive that’.

While her time on the ITV daytime show is mostly positive, she does sometimes find herself on the receiving end of critical comments on social media, but the star told how shy mostly shies away from it as it’s not ‘healthy’.
She explained: ‘It’s never been a big part of my life. I don’t think it’s entirely healthy, particularly for young people. If you start to worry about what everybody else thinks, it breeds this inertia where you’re frightened to do anything in case you don’t get it right.’
Cat’s words comes after she and Ben addressed This Morning being snubbed at this year’s National Television Awards.
The ITV programme lost out to The Chase for the Daytime Award on Wednesday night.

Since leaving This Morning under a cloud, Phillip has since filmed his own TV show, Cast Away, in which he tells his side of the story in an ‘unedited and honest way’
Addressing their snub on the show, the hosts told their viewers that they needed a hug after they had quite a late night.
Opening the show Ben said: ‘I have put on a cozy cardigan on here because I feel like we need a warm hug because it was quite a late night.
Cat chipped in and said ‘I was, it is a long way. The O2 is a long way’, before Ben added: ‘Unless you live over that way’.
He then revealed: ‘We loved it. It was a really wonderful, joyous occasion to be with the team. Alison and Dermott, we had such a laugh, they were sitting just in front of us. Alison is very distracting.’

Addressing their snub, the hosts told their viewers that they needed a hug after they had quite a late night
Cat confessed: ‘We were kind of the naughty corner. When they put us all together like that, we are definitely the naughty corner.’
But their viewers had little sympathy for the show’s loss as they claimed the show has ‘gone downhill’.
Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, viewers showed little sympathy when responding to show’s snub.
