The star shared a touching moment she believes she received a sign from Michael
Michael sadly spent a lot of his life in and out of hospital after being diagnosed with congenital heart disease as a baby, before dying of heart failure at the age of 33.
Daisy, who joined the panel to discuss her new book Hexy B***h, as she delves into the unexplained and shares the spookiest stories from her life and the world at large.
She recalled the time she believes she received a sign from Michael after his passing.
She shared: “When Michael was dying, he was in so much pain and agony and he was terrified.
“He phoned me said he wasn’t scared anymore and he had an angelic spirit kind of being that came to me and said ‘in seven days I would have a new body, which means I’m either going to get better or going to pass away but I’ll be free of this pain.
“And he died within seven days. I think that’s extraordinary. There are so many things you can’t explain.”
Daisy admitted that she was losing faith while writing the book until a supernatural encounter.
She continued: “The next morning me and my partner were in bed. When Sluggs was dying, I said ‘what are you most gutted missing out on?’
“He said the Phoenix Festival, he genuinely meant it.
“He loved it because it was free, in walking distance to his house and there was a Guns N’ Roses tribute act playing.
“I said ‘honestly, you’re gutted about missing out on that?’, and he said ‘yeah, I am’.”
Daisy went on: “Me and my partner were in bed and it’s about 7am in the morning and there’s this banging on the bedroom door.”
The actress then knocked a few times on the desk to recreate the sound she heard that morning.
“”It can’t be the cats, do they have knuckles…we both heard it, we have cameras on the landing and there was nothing.”
Daisy became choked up as she said: “He heard it as well and my god, it turned out that that was the day of the Phoenix Festival.”
The TV star began to sob as she was consoled by the Loose Women panel, including Ruth Langsford and Coleen Nolan.
Daisy was seen wiping her tears from her face and was quickly handed a tissue.
Michael was put in palliative care and told he didn’t have long to live a month before heart defects claimed his life.
Daisy was in close contact with her co-star during the final days of his life.
She told the Times: “When he was in palliative care near the end, he’d been in agony for his whole life, he was frightened of dying.”
But the actress went on to add that she believes Michael had a spiritual encounter that revealed the date of his death to him.
Daisy continued: “Then he phoned me up and said, ‘I’m not scared any more, I felt this angelic light at the bottom of the bed that told me within seven days at midnight I’d have a new body.’
“And he died within seven days, at 11.59. That brought so much comfort.”
She also revealed that she asked Michael to come back as a spirit and let her know that he was okay.
Daisy believes that did happen, sharing: “I hadn’t heard anything. It made me doubt myself.
“Then I woke up here and the duvet was being lifted, with no draught in the room. Then there was a banging, a musical hammering on the bedroom door.
“And Slugs had said, ‘I’m gutted I’m gonna miss the Phoenix festival.’ That’s this festival we have in Ciren.
“He loved it because it’s nearby and it’s free and this year there was a Guns N’ Roses tribute band. He was genuinely looking forward to it.
“Then blow me if this musical banging wasn’t on the morning of the Phoenix fest. Is that coincidence?”
Michael sprung to fame as the monosyllabic Michael ‘Slugs’ Slugette on sitcom This Country.
His character was friends with Kerry and Kurtan, played by siblings Daisy and Charlie Cooper, the stars and creators of the hit BBC show.
While he was alive Michael admitted that he almost got sacked while filming the first season because he couldn’t stop laughing at the jokes.
However, after getting coached by someone from Hollywood, he went on to star in all three seasons of the show.
