Jennifer Lopez has been left “hurt and disappointed” as Ben Affleck looks to move on after split.

The couple tied the knot two years ago after reuniting 20 years after they started dating the first time around. Jennifer, 55, cited “irreconcilable differences” last week when she filed for divorce from the Argo star, 52.

Jennifer shocked the world when she finally answered the split rumours that have circling the couple for months, revealing that their date of separation was months earlier in April. It’s understood Jennifer is struggling after the split while the Oscar winner has been growing close to an ex.

“It’s really hit her hard. She’s very upset and disappointed with Ben,” a source told PEOPLE on Wednesday. It comes after rumours began to swirl that Ben has been growing close to RFK Jr’s daughter Kick Kennedy, 36, in recent weeks.

The pair previously enjoyed a brief romance back in 2021 before Ben rekindled his relationship with Jennifer. A source told DailyMail.com: “They didn’t have any affair during his marriage, but it is interesting to Kick’s friends that as soon as this divorce happened all of a sudden Ben is hanging out with an old hookup whose family he sees as royalty.”

Meanwhile, the moment it all went wrong for the couple was revealed in an awkward clip from Jennifer’s documentary The Greatest Love Story Never Told. The film was produced alongside a new album and original movie.

In the Amazon Prime Video film, the singer revealed Ben had kept all of their love letters from when they first started dating back in 2002. The romantic had the letters and emails bound into a book to gift to her when they were reunited in 2021.

The pop star explained: “This book is a book Ben gave me on our first Christmas back together. It is every letter and every mail that we wrote each other from 20 years ago and today.”

Jennifer handed out the letters to those who were helping her create her new album in the studio, which appeared to upset her new husband. He told the camera: “My book that I had given her was down there.

“She’s like “I’ve been reading it to people. This is kind of the inspiration and I’ve been showing them the book. I was like you’ve been showing all the musicians all those letters… and they were like “Yeah we call you Pen Affleck.”

‘And I was like, ‘Oh my god.'” Before adding that he would have preferred if the letters had remained private. Ben said: “I did really find the beauty and the poetry and the irony in the fact that it’s the greatest love story never told. If you’re making a record about it, that seems kind of like telling it.”
