Kim Kardashian is clearly proud to see her eldest daughter, North West, participate in a live action rendition of the Lion King, taking to social media to gush over the pre-teen. But her followers felt that Kim’s seemingly well-intentioned post may invade North’s privacy.

North made her acting debut at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles on Friday, portraying the role of young Simba in a live performance marking the 30th anniversary of the Disney classic. Since then, Kim hasn’t stopped gushing over North online.

Why Fans Are Angry Kim Posted About North

While reviews of North’s performance varied, there’s been a consensus that Kim should refrain from thrusting her daughter into the limelight. The criticism intensified when Kim shared additional photos on Instagram showcasing North in her Lion King attire.

In the snapshots, North donned an oversized yellow sweater and pants set reminiscent of her character’s costume. However, attention quickly shifted to Kim herself, saying she should stop featuring her daughter online so much, especially given the criticism it can lead to.

“Kim really does not care about exposing this child at all!” exclaimed one individual in a Reddit chat room. “She is willing to sacrifice anyone and anything for money and attention,” concurred another.

 

“Why would you put your child through the ridicule?” queried a third commenter. “I get they love any type of press, good or bad, but I feel like you should draw the line when it comes to your kids.”

“Another expressed empathy, stating, “I wish you didn’t put her through that,” highlighting concerns about setting North up for potential failure.

Why North’s Performance Has Been Heavily Mocked

While North’s performance has been celebrated by Kim as well as her father, Kanye West, it wasn’t received well by all fans. Some critics took to social media following the 10-year old’s performance to call it embarrassing and allege she only got the role because of nepotism.

“SHE ONLY GOT THE ROLE BECAUSE OF HER PARENTS….SHE CANNOT SING!!!!” one person shared on X (formerly Twitter). A different critic added, “North west lion king might be the craziest nepo baby situation ive seen…. its almost cartoonish.”

Someone else added, “Yeah this is terrible for a concert show people paid to see. Come on, the privilege shows. It looks like she didn’t even practice.”

Nevertheless, sources say North put on a strong performance, especially given her age. “She smiled and seemed nervous yet confident. She definitely seemed to be having fun and trying her best,” a source told Us Weekly, adding North “never forgot the words” and “danced all around the stage” and “looked really happy [and was] always smiling.”

This isn’t the first time Kim has been accused of throwing her daughter into the limelight. And with North’s debut album underway (or so she and Kanye announced earlier this year), Kim may continue facing the same type of criticism as her daughter’s star power grows.
