The TV presenter spoke to Janette Manrara alongside his pro partner Luba Mushtuk where he revealed that his future on the programme was still yet to be determined.

Nick told the It Takes Two host that show bosses were keeping a watchful eye on his injuries and he would be allowed to undertake some light training tomorrow with the hopes of being able to remain in the competition.

It will only be then when his rehearsals have been assessed that Nick will finally be given a decision on if he and Luba will be able to perform again this weekend.

Speaking today, Nick said: “Each day gets a little bit better.

“On Friday, it looked pretty bad to be honest.

“Saturday was not so good but I got a scan and so we decided to wait until Monday so we could have a look at that.

“Monday was a little bit stronger and today I got the see the physio’s and I’ve had help from all the rehab and physio’s and doctors and they have given me clearance to try and dance tomorrow to train.

“If I train tomorrow then it might not necessarily be the end of it.”

Janette then clarified that Nick will be given a final decision on Friday if he can remain in the contest after assessments regarding his training session on Thursday have been made.

Nick then said: “We will see how I do tomorrow and that is all we can say at the moment.”

His pro partner Luba then said: “Tomorrow we will try and we will go gentle and see what we can do and what we can’t and then adjust it.”

Branding the outcome of the day “massive”, Nick and Luba further revealed that if they are able to take to the dancefloor this Saturday they will be performing their planned routine for last week, a Charleston based on the iconic children’s character Paddington Bear.

Addressing how she would adapt the routine owing to Nick’s injuries, Luba revealed: “We will take it step-by-step and see what is comfortable and maybe what is feeling uncomfortable.

“We will create it together.”

It is not the first time that Nick has been blighted by injury whilst on the show with the TV star confessing today he had been left “sick and tired” by his unfortunate roadblocks.

The Sun were the first to reveal last week that Nick had been forced to pull out of the contest and be given a bye to the next round as a result of his knee injury.

He injured himself after falling when he did a jump during a dress rehearsal – leaving him on crutches.

It is the second injury to rock Nick on Strictly after he injured his shoulder and arm while changing a car tyre.

A source said last week: “Nick won’t be able to take part in Strictly after hurting his knee.

“He was in a dress rehearsal with his partner Luba Mushtuk when he did a jump and landed awkwardly.

“Nick has hurt his knee and is having to use crutches to get around now.

“It is such a devastating blow for him and he is being supported by the Strictly team.

“They are sending him for scans and are doing everything they can to make sure he is okay.”
