NICK Knowles has broken his silence after suffering a nasty arm injury – leaving his future on Strictly in the balance.

The Sun revealed earlier today that the DIY SOS star, 62, injured his arm yesterday while changing a car tyre.

Insiders said Nick was set to have a meeting with BBC bosses today following the “painful” injury.

Taking to Instagram, Nick gave fans an update from the passenger seat of his car wearing a brown pashmina shawl as a temporary sling.

He told his followers: “Good morning, I thought I’d give a little update.

“As you can see my arm is in a sling and that’s because at the weekend my car broke down at the side of the motorway.

“My little boy in the car, so wanted to change the tyre as quickly as I possibly could, to make sure we were safe.

“In the process of hurrying to get the wheel off as quickly as I possibly could because there was a big wheel on my big car.”

Nick explained that he was not certain of the extent of the damage at this stage, but was on his way to Harley Street for a scan.

“I managed to damage my shoulder and my arm a little bit.

“I’m not sure how or what. But it’s been quite painful, although a little better this morning.

“So I’m on my way up to London to Harley Street to get a scan done and to get some top medical advice.”

Despite the agonising pain, Nick said he was determined to return to training today ahead of Saturday’s upcoming performance.

“I am heading to training afterwards, so I can learn the steps of my next dance,” he continued.

“And I’ll see you on It Takes Two a bit later today, where hopefully I’ll have more information and be able to update you but I’ll keep you posted during the course of the day.”

He added: “Not ideal but I’m convinced not something that’s going to stop me dancing this weekend.”

Earlier today, a member of the public spotted Nick wearing a sling on his arm in White City, West London today.

They told The Sun: “Nick looked really downcast.

“He had his arm in a makeshift sling and seemed pretty miserable.”

STRICTLY FUTURE

Nick, who is paired with Luba Mushtuk, danced the jive during the first live show on Saturday night and got a score of 18 from the judges.

A source said Nick was petrified he would be forced to pull out.

They added: “Nick has hurt his arm and is terrified he’s going to have to leave Strictly.

“He’s going to speak to a doctor and then with the BBC.

“Nick knows that be needs to give himself time to recover and that means he won’t be able to train properly with Luba.

“Having to pull out is Nick’s worst nightmare and he’s incredibly upset.”

A second source added: “Nick is hopeful he will be able to dance this weekend and is being supported by Strictly.

“He will be signed off by a Strictly physiotherapist before being able to dance again and the team are taking good care of him and making sure he has everything he needs.”

It comes after the TV legend revealed his exact weight loss from his “tough” training sessions.

Nick was quick to heap praise on his “wonderful” celebrity partner as he told how she was “the perfect combination of incredibly brilliant and incredibly patient.”

The Southall-native appeared on Thursday’s episode of ITV daytime show Lorraine by performing a mini routine.

And while he told how getting to grips with ballroom and Latin routines had been a struggle, he admitted seeing benefits in his body.

Host Lorraine Kelly gushed how he had “already won” courtesy of having Russian Luba, 34, as a professional partner.

Nick told of their rehearsals and said: “It was tough to start with because I have never done anything like this at all.

“I was a flat footed rugby player for years.

“But little by little she [Luba] has made this 18-stone man a little lighter on his feet.”

Lorraine then asked for the details of his weight loss, to which the BBC favourite revealed it was “13 kilos, so far.”

Last month, Nick told how he had been in the gym and on a strict diet to prepare for the dance show.

And, earlier this year, he cruelly compared himself to a “whale” as he joked about his weight.
