EastEnders producer Chris Clenshaw promised dramatic scenes ahead for Suki Panesar and Eve Unwin’s New Year wedding, as Nish Panesar is out for revenge on the BBC soap
There’s “dramatic” and heart-stopping moments on the way on EastEnders this New Year.
Soap boss Chris Clenshaw has confessed Suki Panesar and Eve Unwin’s wedding episodes are unmissable, telling The Mirror there’s huge stuff ahead across New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day. Viewers know that Suki’s ex Nish Panesar has vowed to “go nuclear”, and destroy the pair’s happiness.
Seeing Suki movingn as a betrayal after he went to prison, pretending to be Keanu Taylor’s k!ller, he first pretended to be on his d3ath bed, before vowing revenge. He warned Suki she’d regret it, before escaping prison and hiding out in the Square.
Of course their grandson Nugget is yet to expose his whereabouts, with Nish manipulating him. Details about what happens, what Nish actually has planned and whether he will go through with it remains to be seen.
But soap boss Chris has confessed his “heart was in his mouth” in shock as he previewed the episodes recently. Not giving anything away, he told us there is high drama ahead with some unmissable scenes on the way.
He told us: “We have a big New Year storyline with Suki and Eve’s wedding. It’s EastEnders’ first lesbian wedding, but Nish is out there and has gone underground.
“It’s his final act of vengeance. My heart was in my mouth when I watched those episodes – expect a lot of drama at New Year.” In the lead-up to New Year and beyond, he added: “There’s a lot going on, not just the Beale/Knight saga. The Stacey/Martin/Ruby love triangle.
“Nigel’s back – I know there’s been some speculation, but he’s back for a long stint. It’s brilliant having Paul back. It’ll be a really lovely Christmas treat. Phil’s loneliness storyline. He’s got family around him but despite that, he’s struggling.
“As per usual with Steve McFadden, he’s blowing my socks off. It’s really kind of interesting and different to tell this story with Phil Mitchell. We all know someone like Phil. I just signed off on an episode last week that’s phenomenal.”
Chris also revealed minor spoilers about the 40th anniversary episodes set to air in February. He revealed: “I can’t say too much, but it’s explosive. Apart from the live episode, we’ve pretty much shot most of it. It’s looking brilliant. Expect everything.”
