The young female singer received a lot of criticism after dressing revealingly and performing vulgarly with male singer Robin Thicke on stage at the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards.

Her racy twerking performance with Robin Thicke caused a sensation around the world.

The Blurred Lines singer has always denied he knew what Miley Cyrus was going to do when they hit the stage at the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards.

But the Wrecking Ball singer now says otherwise calling out Thicke saying in fact he wanted her ‘as naked a possible’ for the show.

Speaking to the New York Times she said she was shocked he did not stand by the fact he had full knowledge she was going to gyrate, bump and grind in a barely there flesh coloured underwear ensemble.

‘He acted like he didn’t know that was going to happen. You were in rehearsals! You knew exactly what was going to happen,’ said Miley.

‘And he was actually the one that approved my outfit, so I thought that was very funny. He wanted me as naked as possible.’

There were rumors following the performance that Robin’s wife at the time – Paula Patton –  had been angry at the singer after he kept her in the dark as to what was going to happen on stage.

Speaking to the publication ahead of her hosting role at the 2015 MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday, the 22-year-old also revealed she was amazed that people found the performance so shocking.

She added: ‘I can’t believe that was a big deal. It wasn’t shocking at all.’

The singer said she was left feeling judged after what happened, by not only strangers but also her friends.

She revealed people also assumed she was on drugs when she performed the song, which she says was not the case.  

Miley said she is going to try an recreate her Instagram account at this years awards, which is considered by some to be a little bit off the wall. 

She said she was told by organisers it as her party and the singer revealed ‘pyschedelic’ and ‘raw’ were themes.

She said: ‘What I’m trying to do is create my Instagram – which people love to think is so freaky – in real life.’
