King Charles health update

Speaking to PEOPLE, Tom, 49, said: “The King is strong. He is doing what he can. He’s following the advice of his doctors. Fingers crossed, touch wood.

“He’s a magnificent King. It’s a terrifying disease, and when someone close to you gets it in whatever capacity, it’s a very worrying thing.

“But my mother is strong as well. She supports him in every way. I think it’s wonderful to have someone you love by your side.”

Tom then praised his mother, saying he’s “incredibly proud of her” for getting on with duties amid the King’s cancer treatment.

He said that although she’s “at an age when most people think of retiring,” Camilla “never complains” and “just gets on with it”.

The King and Queen have been out in Samoa this week following their visit to Australia. During one event, Camilla gave a glimpse into her husband’s work ethic.

During a Commonwealth event, Camilla said of her experience on the work ethic of men: “As one whose husband is often toiling into the small hours, long after my head is on the pillow, I should stress there are plenty of exceptions!”

King Charles’ cancer

Last month, Camilla’s son Tom shared another update on the monarch’s health. He said Charles is receiving “the best treatment”.

He told British Vogue: “The King’s having the best treatment. He’s a great man and a tough man, and you’ve just got to get on with it.

“Of course, anyone who has someone they love with cancer is going to worry.”

The King shared his cancer diagnosis in February. It came after he underwent a procedure for an enlarged prostate.

Buckingham Palace said in a statement at the time: “During the King’s recent hospital procedure for benign prostate enlargement, a separate issue of concern was noted. Subsequent diagnostic tests have identified a form of cancer.

“His Majesty has today commenced a schedule of regular treatments, during which time he has been advised by doctors to postpone public-facing duties.”
